Greater Yellowstone Wolves Delisted - Protest Now!
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/806854919?z00m=13932203

The Bush/Cheney administration has just eliminated federal protections for wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies, opening the door to the slaughter of hundreds of America's most beloved wolves.

3. I would like to see you try to pet one your "beloved wolves."
The wolves have demonstrated a remarkable come back. They are no longer endangered. In fact they may be headed for over population. Oh and btw, wolves are the masters of slaughter. Maybe it's just their karma catching up to them?

10. You are right. They are very hard on populations of elk and Bambi deer.

12. You have a Republican grasp of science
A love of wilderness doesn't mean you want to "pet" it...knucklehead.

I love wolves and grizzly bears because they are part of wild nature. Wildness includes killin' and eatin'. That's life. I love life.

The Greater Yellowstone wolves are not overpopulated. They have protection inside the Park, but outside their numbers are too low. This ruling is just another example of the what happens when the Interior Department is run by Bush/Cheney lackeys. This de-listing is nothing but a political favor to ranchers and the whole wing of the GOP that is ideologically opposed to wilderness and conservation biology (which may include yourself, based on that post).

18. But but
How can you love a bear when it wants to eat you? Or the Wolf when it is in its very nature to eat you and the three little pigs? Down with Wolves! Down with Adjustible Rate mortgage holding pigs! No bailouts either!

22. sorry, dates from Bush 1 and Clinton administrations
The recovery plan for that subpopulation was written in 1987. Reintroduction was in 1996-1996.

13. You're an idiot.
Wolves are not the masters of slaughter and that's been well documented.

25. I don't need to pet an animal
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 08:50 PM by Kajsa
I want to protect.

However-- one day before I leave this great planet,
I'd love to travel to San Ignacio or Magdalena Bay
to see a gray whale up close.

Wolves are have an advanced social structure and are loyal to their mates through life.

Greater Yellowstone Wolves Delisted - Protest Now!

Please join me in protesting this decision now - it will only take a minute
to send your message in support of protecting these wolves! http://go.care2.com/13792662

This decision leaves the region's wolves at the mercy of outrageous state management plans
that could lead to the killing of all but 300 wolves – eliminating 80% of all the wild wolves
in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.

-

I just sent my message to protest this decision -

please send your message here: http://go.care2.com/13792662

Thanks!

15. The headline was deceiving
It said that the wolves were removed from the species list! I wondered "well, if they aren't species, what are they?"

Consider the petition signed!

20. well, you should be advocating for revising the ESA then
because species are supposed to be removed from the list once they've met the recovery criteria. Otherwise conservatives will say the Endangered Species Act is a trick and a fraud because we move the goalposts on an emotional basis.

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago with detailed links when this came out and don't have the energy to go through it again. But this is not zero protection for wolves. It passes responsibility to the states in that subspecies area, similar to what happened in upper Midwest. Fed government can relist as necessary.

Every wolf is precious to me, but I think most people don't understand the ecology or the law behind this.
