These academy awards , what crap , my opinion |
|
I recall when the US first brought their horror show called shock and awe upon Iraq the people in the awards were going to tone it all down .
I never watch these things but my wife used to and she taped them for later viewing .
I saw bits and pieces while walking by and thought , well this killing is still going on so why produce this array of grand achievement at this point in time .
Then they had a few troops call in .
I don't speak for anyone other than myself but in this country that is so very screwed up in every way possible who needs this stuff .
No one else gets recognized for anything ever unless you are in the industry club or one of the billionaires in forbes .
It's all sponsor driven TV drivel . Somehow it does not fit with the horror we are stuck with . It seemed surreal to me .

UGH! trivializing the quagmire with their self-congratulatory crap. Those rich spoiled brats are so divorced from reality they don't realize how much they are embarrassing themselves to the public. A few get it but a lot of them don't and couldn't care less.

4. You'd eat your words if you saw the film that won "Best Documentary." |

"Taxi to the Dark Side"
This was up against some serious competition, like Michael Moore and "No End in Sight."
It's literally one of the best Docs I've ever seen, because it lays out, with point-by-point analysis, exactly how and why Abu Gharib, Guantanamo, and Rendition are harming the US more than any single act of Foreign Policy, and how Bush is directly responsible for such goings-on. However, until Sunday, very few people had ever heard of it--I believe it played in exactly THREE theaters nationwide.
Now that it's won an Oscar, it'll get a wider release on DVD and Cable, and more people will actually watch it--and that'll severely hurt the Republicans chances of winning the White House back to boot.
That alone is worth all of the hype and hooplah.

6. If movie or doc is good word will get out |
|
I don't know the benefits of these awards or the purpose from the inside . I really don't care , no personal attack intended here .
Let them have their private show then and that's it . I am sick of glorifying high profile social clubs .
The industry made this an event from the beginning 80 years ago . There are all sorts of ordinary people who do good things with little reward and no one ever knows or cares yet because this is the movies and an entertainment country this is important stuff like high profile sports or the music industry .
I like certain films but I don't bow down to the hype or the stars .

There shouldn't be awards shows because of the war?

7. No country, no life, devoid of its creative arts can maintain its soul |
|
Even if we're only talking about Hollywood. Cinema, painting, sculpture, music, dance (high and low culture included)... all these things are a part of our individual and collective spirits as a nation. Woe unto us when we cannot sing, or laugh, or create. Even during wartime.
Even the inmates of the concentration camps in Nazi Germany understood this: they played music, and made sure their children drew and wrote. This is what kept them going. Do not belittle the place of the arts within our national agenda: without them, we perish.

8. It's not the same thing at all and you know it |

Are you going to tell me that without award shows all art would not exist ? That's crap , art in all forms existed just fine before the 80 years of these awards .
I am not against any form of art , i took art and play instruments but I don't need an award to keep it going .
