surge update - Iraqi Leaders Veto Law on Elections
no political progress

~snip~BAGHDAD, Feb. 27 -- Iraqi government leaders on Wednesday rejected a law requiring nationwide elections by the fall, sidetracking a measure that U.S. officials consider a key benchmark for political reconciliation in Iraq.

Parliament passed the legislation two weeks ago. The veto by Iraq's presidency council was an unexpected setback.

1. Uh Oh!
John McLame will soon deal with them. He did say he's not surrendering although Bush said Iraq is a sovereign nation. My poor brain cells are surging with confused signals from these war criminals.

3. I'm sick and tired of the press say we are succeeding in Iraq
We are not! We are not any closer to leaving that country.

The surge is a propaganda "victory", plain and simple.

5. The press refuses to acknowledge
that the Iraqi parliament and the Bush administration and its pet presidency are at odds.

How many people realize that a majority of the Iraqi parliament passed a binding resolution in June of 2007 requesting that the UN not renew the "occupation mandate" authorizing or legitimizing the US occupation and continued presence in Iraq? The US and the UN have ignored that resolution, as has our press.

And the Iraqi parliament has, on several occasions, defeated the hyrdocarbon law that is a major US benchmark of this admin.

And the success of the surge is due to the cease fire called by various factions in the hopes that it will make the surge seem successful and then the US will begin withdrawals. Of course, the US backed Sunnis have been cleansing neighborhoods and violating the cease fire and the other factions are growing weary of the US allowing it to happen. They are getting tired of sitting back and waiting.

there is far too much that the press is not honest about, the "surge is working" is just a small part of the dishonesty.
