PNAC is Back: Re-Branded Think Tank of Snakes and Liars
The PNAC is back - same old liars with a brand new name

There's a new think tank on the loose, guys, and it's called the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. They're on a veritable rampage, penning articles and missives to the editor on a set of issues we are all too familiar with.

It doesn't take long to see these clowns for what they are, another front for the neoconservative agenda: anti-U.N., pro-Iraq war, shills for Israel via proxy (in this case, Lebanon), and pro-Iran invasion.

But let's take a closer look at who is behind this.

Here is the roster.

Board of Directors
Steve Forbes - original signatory, PNAC
Jeanne Kirkpatrick, signatory, PNAC letter to Bush
Jack Kemp, Mr. supply-side economics himself, linked to Kirkpatrick and William Bennett (another PNAC signatory) via Empower America, which also happens to have Steve Forbes as a director

Distinguished Advisors
Louis Freeh
Newt Gingrich, the man who did the PNAC's inside dirty work in 1998, leading the charge for Bill Clinton's impeachment in 1998 while simultaneously the Republicans were pushing action against Iraq
Max Kampelman, PNAC signatory on Hong Kong letter
Joe Lieberman, the so-called independent who has supported the neoconservative agenda at every step
James Woolsey, PNAC signatory on Iraq Clinton letter and several others

Board of Advisors
Gary Bauer, PNAC signatory, radical right Christian, and Christian Zionist leader
Eric Cantor, US Rep (R-VA), Israel hawk
Eliot Engel, US Rep (D-NY), one of few non-Southern Iraq war hawks in the Dem Party, Israel hawk
Frank Gaffney, PNAC signatory
Marc Ginsberg, signatory, PNAC letter on Russia
Charles Jacobs, noted anti-Muslim racist
Charles Krauthammer, signatory, PNAC Iraq Clinton letter
Bill Kristol, founder, PNAC
Richard Lamm, former Democratic governor of Colorado, later Reform party candidate for president, noted racist
Jim Marshall, US Rep (D-GA), DINO
Zell Miller, another Democratic traitor who backed W in 2004
Richard Perle, the prince of darkness itself, and of course a PNAC signatory
Steven Pomerantz, former FBI, an intelligence profiteer
Oliver "Buck" Revell, former FBI, another intelligence profiteer

1. The Foundation for Defense of Democracies

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) was founded shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in order to support the "war on terror." According to its website, FDD achieves this by engaging in a "worldwide war of ideas" aimed at defending "democratic societies under assault by terrorism and Militant Islamism" ("About FDD"). The foundation quickly became a prominent member of the group of neoconservative-aligned think tanks and advocacy organizations that has been influential in shaping the foreign policy priorities of the George W. Bush administration; this group includes the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the Project for the New American Century, the Hudson Institute, the Committee on the Present Danger (CPD), and Freedom House.

Like its neoconservative partners, FDD's agenda has included supporting a long-term military engagement in Iraq, advocating aggressive action in Iran and Syria, promoting the idea that the United States and the West are in an existential conflict with "Islamofascism," and pushing public opinion to support an Israel-centric U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. Like many of its neoconservative brethren, FDD has linked cultural issues in the United States to the broader issue of confronting enemies overseas. The foundation has even lambasted comic books for their supposedly corrosive impact on American youth. In an April 2003 FDD white paper titled "The Betrayal of Captain America," Michael Medved and Michael Lackner claimed: "Marvel Comics and other publishers are disseminating comic books that actively promote a destructive cynicism and distrust of the United States government" (Boston Globe, August 28, 2005).

As pressure mounted in 2007 for the United States to take more aggressive action on Iran, FDD joined its like-minded associates in the advocacy community in pushing the message that peace in Iraq was intimately tied to containing Iran, and that global peace would ultimately depend on regime change in Tehran. In "white papers," "policy briefings," and commentaries published in major media outlets and posted on its website, FDD associates lambasted Iran for fomenting conflict throughout the Mideast and harangued the Bush administration for not taking more aggressive action. For instance, an August 2007 FDD "backgrounder," titled "Iran's Role in Potential Middle East Conflicts," argued that Iran was the "common denominator" in problem areas from Iraq to Palestine, and Lebanon to Latin America. And in September 2007, FDD's director Clifford May served as a speaker, along with AEI scholar Michael Ledeen and former CIA head James Woolsey, at an AEI "book forum" aimed at addressing issues raised in Ledeen's then newly published book, The Iranian Time Bomb: The Mullah Zealots' Quest for Destruction.

A sign of the FDD's emergence as a major player in the advocacy world occurred on March 13, 2006, when President George W. Bush delivered a speech on the "Global War on Terrorism" at an FDD-sponsored event. The president commended the FDD's work during his speech: "The foundation is making a difference across the world, and I appreciate the difference you're making. You have trained Iraqi women and Iranian students in the principles and practice of democracy, you've translated 'democracy readers' into Arabic for distribution across the broader Middle East, you've helped activists across the region organize effective political movements—so they can help bring about democratic change and ensure the survival of liberty in new democracies. By promoting democratic ideals, and training a new generation of democratic leaders in the Middle East, you are helping us to bring victory in the war on terror—and I thank you for your hard work in freedom's cause."

14. Add these names to the list....
Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and John Bolton are also PNAC signatories.

It's just so scary that these radical pieces of shit--who only want more war and
to rape and pillage anything that gets in the way of their "world domination" plans--
have been elevated to positions of stature--all over the world.

It's just revolting.

This organization is a disease.

Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 12:00 PM by wryter2000
Snakes are lovely creatures. Most avoid humans and prey on destructive rodents. They don't deserve to be compared to the likes of PNAC. If anything, they'd bite Bill Kristol and die of the poison.
