Why are there so many multiple shootings this time of year?
Late winter to late spring seems very deadly.

1. Weather starting to break...

People can be a bit more active outside maybe? Gives the wackos impetus to act out instead of stewing in the basement like they did all winter.

4. In years passed, while studying depression, I kept reading suicides were higher this time of year.
Read some theories that blood chemistry actually changes a bit as spring approaches and that might hold an answer. Something about fat levels adjusting or something. Don't know if there are any recent findings on the subject, but would be interesting to hear if there are.

5. Too much darkness. Lack of sunlight can really affect people
I think they call it seasonal affective disorder, SAD. You go to work and its dark, you come home and its dark. You are in a building with flourescent lights all day. You hardly get any sunlight. Not to mention the holidays. It can really affect people.

11. A friend of mine suffering from SAD found this very helpful --
that and moving from always-gray Seattle.

9. Increased daylight
can help trigger manic behavior in some people, I've observed. I have a bipolar friend who becomes severely manic about a week after the spring equinox every year.
