Government Concedes Vaccine-Autism Case in Federal Court - Now What?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-kirby/government-concedes-vacci_b_88323.html

After years of insisting there is no evidence to link vaccines with the onset of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the US government has quietly conceded a vaccine-autism case in the Court of Federal Claims.

The unprecedented concession was filed on November 9, and sealed to protect the plaintiff's identify. It was obtained through individuals unrelated to the case.

The claim, one of 4,900 autism cases currently pending in Federal "Vaccine Court," was conceded by US Assistant Attorney General Peter Keisler and other Justice Department officials, on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services, the "defendant" in all Vaccine Court cases.

-very long snip-

The United State government is compensating at least one child for vaccine injuries that resulted in a diagnosis of autism.

And that is big news, no matter how you want to say it.

HUGE NEWS!

3. i'm not sure what to believe
with regards to this, but i do know one absolute fact. if i had it to do over again, my son wouldn't ever have gotten these vaccines. don't know if it would have made a difference, but even if it hadn't, i wouldn't have wonder if his autism could have been avoided.

7. The child in this case had some type of mitochondrial DNA abnormality.
In this case, the government conceded that the vaccine aggavated a predisposition. There are some more details here. Do you know if this would apply in your case?

6. This illustrates why .gov openness is important.
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 12:13 PM by backscatter712
If the .gov had been open about vaccines and autism, instead of sweeping things under the rug to protect the pharmcos, maybe instead of spending money and energy on lawsuits and care for kids hurt by these vaccines, maybe we could spend research dollars to find out why vaccines may have a link to autism.

Eventually we might be able to have our cake and eat it too - figure out how to make vaccines that definitely do not cause autism. But in order for things like that to happen within our lifetimes, scientists have to be able to research and publish without some political asshole telling them in advance what their conclusions should be - they should be able to do pure science.

Unfortunately, with all the autism talk, people do forget that the diseases that vaccines protect us against are fucking horrendous. I'm not sure what's worse - being made autistic or becoming quadriplegic due to polio...

8. It isn't the vaccines themselves, it's the materials they use *in* the vaccines
like Thimerisol for preservatives (which contain mercury, HELLO).

9. it is not the vaccines that cause autism
it is the mercury laden preservative THIMEROSAL that is the culprit. All big pharma has to do is get rid of the thimerosal.

Thimerosal

A press release about Mercury in Thimerosal from the National Vaccine Information Center in July of 1999 press points out that, "The cumulative effects of ingesting mercury can cause brain damage." During this same month, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) alerted the public about the possible health effects associated with thimerosal-containing vaccines. These health-related organizations strongly recommended that thimerosal be removed from vaccines as soon as possible. Under the directive of the FDA Modernization Act of 1997, the Food and Drug Administration also determined that infants who received several thimerosal-containing vaccines may be receiving mercury exposure over and above the recommended federal guidelines.

11. Good point.
IMHO, thimerosal is one, but not the only culprit in the autism epidemic that has been hitting us.

I personally think, just from what I've been hearing on the news that there are hundreds, maybe thousands of other chemicals that aren't found in nature, that are low-level toxic, that also contribute.

But yeah. I really wish the pharmcos wouldn't put mercury in our vaccines.
