How exactly will we pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 12:00 PM by Angry Mollusk
I am unclear on how we are supposed to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan- GW Bush's trying to push through tax cuts for the wealthy as war rages in Iraq and Afganistan is assinine- How will be pay for this?
Are those tax cuts supposed to pay for the wars? Where the hell is the common sense?
So far we have only paid for the war in spilled blood. Where will the money come from to finance the billions of dollars we spend every month?
What does this do the the Republican claim that their party is the one that stands for fiscal responsibly?

6. And to think Republicans still accuse Democrats of being out of control spenders
I think it's high time Republicans stop claiming they believe their party is fiscally responsible- I have seen zero evidence of them being fiscally responsible in my lifetime.
Republicans warn if a Democrat is elected there will be 'out of control spending', yet these same Republicans don't have a problem with Bush's compulsive spending. Where is the consistency?

13. Everywhere...
Banking, Construction, Security (remember the Dubai ports-deal?), Transportation, Transmission.

Example:

Citigroup said today that it has received a $12.5 billion investment from outside investors, including the Government of Singapore Investment Corp. and the Kuwait Investment Authority. That follows a $7.5 billion cash infusion from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley have also been the beneficiaries of investment dough from foreign sovereign wealth funds.

By the way, Hillary Clinton supports the idea SWF..

8. Easy. After 10,000% inflation, we will be paying with toilet paper dollars!
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 12:10 PM by L. Coyote
This has happened in other countries unable to manage their finances. A government takes out bonds, and when they pay off the face value, the currency has so many more zeroes, the money is about as valuable as your school notebook paper.

9. We can waste trillion of dollars on an unnecessary war, but not on universal health insurance?
So we can afford to spend trillions of dollars on an unnecessary war in Iraq- but we can't afford to provide all American citizens with health coverage.

Hmm, given a choice of money being spent on programs to help Americans, or on wars to kill people. leave it to the Republicans to choose the latter.

16. Sick, isn't it??
The hypocrisy of accusing Dems of being "tax-and-spend" when they are just "borrow-and-spend" is absurd. :grr:

18. Some may say I'm a dreamer....
...but how about we elect a new Congress that will hold the war profiteers accountable and take back the money they have stolen from the American people? We could also hire someone to find the missing trillions that Rumsfeld reported on 9/10/01. Billions have also gone missing from Iraq. Finally we can Impeach Bush and Cheney otherwise we will be paying them $400,000 per year for the rest of their lives.

19. growth
If you ever heard his economic adviser speak during 2000 or 2004 you'll note all of this was going to be paid for by the huge growth in the US economy. The problem is... the economy didn't grow at the level predicted by Bush. Even went by 2004 it was clear the economy wasn't taking off with his economic policies like he claimed it would, yet he still he claimed the same B.S. Sadly too much of America bought into it. The economy has now completely failed twice during his presidency and had a very modest growth in between, yet they still claim the eventual magic growth will occur and fix the present tax deficit problem. They are frankly INSANE!
