Shrub on gas prices possibly reaching $4.00 a gallon: "That's interesting. I hadn't heard that."
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- President Bush, saying he was unaware of predictions of $4-a-gallon gasoline in the coming months, told reporters Thursday that the best way to help Americans fend off high prices is for Congress to make his first-term tax cuts permanent.

"If you're out there wondering... what your life is going to be like, and you're looking at $4 a gallon, that's uncertain," Bush responded to a question posed at a White House news conference. "And when you couple that with the idea that... taxes may be going up in a couple years, that's double uncertainty."

Analysts have said that gasoline could reach $4 a gallon by this spring, due to strong demand and a change in formulation, among other reasons.

When taking the question about the $4 milestone, Bush told the reporter, "That's interesting. I hadn't heard that."

1. That's "interesting" all right.
Some folks find it terrifying, knowing that there's that much less to spend on groceries and utilities (which are "interestingly" costing more and more each day, too.)

7. This article is horseshit!!!
CNN needs to tell the whole story.

QUESTION: What’s your advice to the average American who is hurting now — facing the prospect of $4 a gallon gasoline, a lot of people facing –

BUSH: Wait a minute. What did you just say? You’re predicting $4 a gallon gas?

QUESTION: A number of analysts are predicting $4 a gallon gasoline this spring when they reformulate.

BUSH: That’s interesting. I hadn’t heard that.

QUESTION: Yes, sir. <…>

QUESTION: Any restrictions on who can give? Will you take foreign money for this?

BUSH: Yes, probably take some foreign money, but don’t know yet. We just haven’t — we just announced the deal. And I, frankly, have been focused elsewhere, like on gasoline prices and, you know, my trip to Africa, and haven’t seen the fund-raising strategy yet.

And so, the answer to your question is really I can’t answer your questions well.

11. Kinda like Poppy not knowing the price of milk, huh? I'm not as surprised at ANY President
not knowing the price of milk or hamburger because they don't SHOP for things, but I do expect ANY President to know the price (at least an average) of any specific product that is creating so much pain to all our citizens! Damn! Don't his advisors tell him anything, or does he just NOT LISTEN?

12. *Snorkle
That's so typical. Bush isn't even out of office yet and he's already being upstaged by the wonderful, intelligent, articulate people on our Dem side who are running for President. It's hard to even listen to him speak after hearing sound bytes from either Obama or Clinton (or Richardson, Biden or practically any Democrat for that matter).

It cracks me up that GWB thinks he has some kind of "legacy" as a brilliant President. How can he possibly think this?
