3. I have no idea. Selfishness?
A guy here in Seattle caused a five-car pileup because he was texting while driving. It made thousands of people late to work.

5. The scumbag telecom companies' revenues increase when people....
use their phones more. They know people like to talk/drive, so naturally they are against any restrictions.

You just know they have crooked politicians in their pocket, like Vito Corleone.

Money talks.

CA has a new hands free law starting in June or July, but it's obvious many people can't multitask in the first place.

6. Guarantee you this kills more than gun crime..
it is normal when someone causes you to die with a car but a national issue when you are shot.

Accidents are rare, most deaths in cars are not accidental events.

7. How are you defining "accident"?
I sincerely doubt that 35,000 people a year leave the house with the intent to kill someone with their car.

An accident caused by carelessness or inattention is still an accident.

9. no it is manslaughter.
if you break the law and kill a person. It may not warrant jail time but it is a crime.

If you are drunk or on the phone, beating your kids, or messing with sirrus then it is murder.

Same as shooting in the air.

8. Because SOME people can't seem to function without that damn
cell phone up to their ear! I constantly question "What the hell did they do before there were cell phones???" I remember when my boss wanted me to get one. I said NO! I work 60+ hours a week, and but for the 15 minutes it takes me to get home, I'm almost always there. NOBODY needs to get hold of me that bad that they can't reach me either in my office or at home within an hour of first trying. And IF by some chance my husband & I go out to dinner once every 4-6 months or so, TS, I don't want to talk to anyone then!

I think it's WONDERFUL that people can report emergencies, but this constant phone stuck to your ear is just plain stupid!
