Perhaps a pipedream. but screw conventional wisdom about a foreign policy guru needed for VP. We don't need wars: we need allies, diplomacy, intelligence and special operations abroad. Howards speaks people's English and, if given the platform, he would have the media and RNC so flummoxed, they won't know what to do.
HD is a rock star in his own right, and no downside. C'mon Obama. Do it!

1. Wouldn't that be something? |

I doubt he's interested in the job, but he'd sure as hell be good at it!
Just imagine the VP debates- the Repub VP nom would be lucky to get out of there without crying.

2. I want him right where he is, healing a party that was torn apart |

by years of neglect. The DLC starved state parties in so-called "red" states, making damned sure they'd never field candidates and that the status quo there would be preserved.
Thanks to Dr. Dean, those parties are no longer facing bankruptcy and are starting to rebuild.
If you want somebody who's a rock star and outside the DLC, push Edwards for VP.

4. I only wish that were possible... |

...the media has America convinced that Dean is a screaming maniac, and there's not much he can do to beat that.
He's more valuable right where he is.

6. He'd be great at helping to craft a health care bill |
|
I remember in 2004 when he had some very practical suggestions -- such as requiring all medical codes for different insurance providers be the same. He can think up great ways to reduce paperwork for doctors and patients. Hey, he may even be able to get through a Canadian-style health care system here.
