Sen. McCaskill Drafts Bill to Ensure McCain's Citizenship.
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 08:24 PM by Ms. November
Why yes, Senator. By all means. Senator McCain (R-Retirement Home) would love your loyal efforts to ensure that he is a valid U.S. candidate and citizen. After all, you really don't have much to do in the Senate these days. It's really your top priority, as an Obama supporter nonetheless, to be sure your esteemed colleague Insane McCain leaves no doubt to any American voter that he indeed is a true legal U.S. citizen. Maybe after McCain, you can single-handedly work to get legislation passed so that our dear Governator Ahhhnold may someday run for President too!!

Dear Senator McCaskill, I do believe you will go down in history as the next Diane Feinstein, a Democrat in Name Only. You certainly do have your priorities in order.

Dripping :sarcasm:

30. I voted for her and I, too, am very disappointed...........
She's voted for immunity for the telecom companies.

She's had some other questionable votes, too.

I guess only Boxer can be Boxer.

34. She won in a red state
with 49.6% of the vote. She's not going to be a Boxer even if she wanted to.

This bill is very reasonable - there's no reason to be upset about it.

senseless speculation. Many people consider McCain to be a war hero; to try to fight him on this issue would go against our own interests.

Edit to add: not directed at the OP; I did see the dripping sarcasm.

true issues that need to be addressed? I don't.

12. But then why draft any bill at all? That's my point. It's not an issue
except that a Democrat is doing it. Why would she bring attention to it, ah yes, I answered my own question....

Think about it - what if that happened? Maybe deep inside her "pure" motives, there's another possibility? Just trying to be optimistic...

Of COURSE a child born on a military base should meet the "natural born" requirement. It would be foolish to argue otherwise, or to try to establish a false barrier. I'm actually relieved that the Democrats are taking this non-issue out of play

(edit: extra word in there)

17. Oh, I think we want that bill passed
really... think about this... can the Republicans comfortably vote "no" or even "present" on this bill? And yet, it opens a door, doesn't it? Yes, let's define a "natural born" citizen as someone born into citizenship, regardless of the location of birth. Somehow, I can see this law coming back to bite the "conservatives" in the butt, without doing any damage at all to progressives.

19. I think it's a Constitutional issue.

Who cares if they redefine it? But a House Bill can't redefine it.

26. Actually it would normally fall to the "Judicial branch" of the government
to interpret the relevant constitutional law. Not sure how that would play out, but quite frankly I'm all for the definition of a "natural born" citizen including everyone born into citizenship.

18. I'm glad somebody finally posted about this woman.
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 08:52 PM by samplegirl
This woman in my book is a real peice of shit. Anyone in MO. that votes for her again must be insane. I saw her in an interview on Bill Maher and she was saying that her daughter worked on her and that she was voting for Obama.
She has voted R on everything that has been up on senate floor.
Twice this month.
I have tried to email her several times and all my emails go into spam.
I probably should try to call her to tell her what I really think of her. She is just another Lieberman!

Here is a list of senators who voted for immunity for teleco.

Bayh (D-IN)
Carper (D-DE)
Conrad (D-ND)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Johnson (D-SD)
Kohl (D-WI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Lieberman (ID-CT)
McCaskill (D-MO)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Nelson (D-FL)
Nelson (D-NE)
Pryor (D-AR)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Salazar (D-CO)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Webb (D-VA)
Clinton (D-NY) {not voting helps the majority}

senators, mostly democrats, vote not to move the Feingold bill on Iraq to the floor
Obviously, the GOPers who pushed the bill will not vote for it, but it is sad to see so many Democrats, including Webb and Tester, be so afraid of being smeared in the media and not want to do the right thing.

35. I think there were more legs to Bush and Cheney being from the same state
I never understood why they didn't pursue that in 2000. However, this issue is the same kind of issue that Barrack's middle name is, its a non-winner. There are so many other things to go after him on that are really legitimate. I think they should pass the bill, and then shame the republicans for not even bringing it up. This is almost a "support the troops" issue.
