I must say, he's got some serious stones for being on the front line in Afghanistan.

he's a soldier and he wants to be with his unit, even though he doesn't have to. The repudiation of privilege and the willingness to risk his life are admirable traits.

13. He is definitely head and shoulders above the offspring of a certain President we all know |
|
It's unlikely Jenna or Barbara will follow his example.

2. Even though I'm not a fan of the British Royal Family, |
|
I have to agree with you on this. Too bad Drudge doesn't have any stones for outing him.

4. I gotta give Drudge credit for walking the streets in Afganistan |
|
looking inside transporters and flipping tent flaps until he located him.
What Drudge didn't do that? Someone gave Drudge the infor while he sat in the studio?
Oh. Well that makes it entirely Drudge's fault.

All kidding aside, he DIDN'T have to see the front lines, but he went anyway. Gotta give him credit for that.

People who most likely were little kids on 9/11/01.
Those little kids didn't do anything to us. They were playing like other little kids were back then. They were just unlucky enough to have been born in a place that we want to control.
Think about it.

10. He is like Diana. He does not seem to be snooty. |
|
When we say that our Congressmen should send their sons and daughters to war Harry is showing he supports the average guy. He has humility and is willing to walk the walk. I think he will be as supportive of the less fortunate as his mother was. He did not ask to be born as a royal. :dem:

|
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 09:03 AM by ThomWV
What in hell is admirable about this child going to war? It is the most shameful thing. What man lets his Government take him to war? Is not the Government's job, every citizen's job, to avoid war? What family lets its child run away to war? How do you raise a child to embrace warfare and maintain civility? What at all is admirable about any of it? Am I to admire this fool because he has put himself in harm's way? Should I admire him because he does something stupid when he was not physically forced to do so? Should I admire him for his wealth and position, his privilege? Just another fool with a gun on a mission.

20. That's a nice bronze star you've got there. |
|
The only way you got it was by going to war.
You either went willingly or you were drafted. Either way, you should hate yourself after your post:
"I do not admire any man who volunteers for war"
or
"What man lets his Government take him to war?"

My husband agrees with you about war and sometimes we post things without looking at things fully.
I still believe this young man was trying to do something right from his view - it was more normal than how he lives his life in all other aspects.
