There were once upon a time liberal Republicans, Clifford Case of NJ, Jacob Javits or NY, John Lindsey, NYC Mayor are three that come to mind

Liberal tax cuts for rich cronies, liberal deficit spending. Conservatives are supposed to conserve something. I can't think of anything good this bunch has conserved.

But I said 'anything good' and their asses are no good. And you know what, they suck at everything.
All ya gotta do is look at the numbers and be smarter than a rock. But there are still many who do not meet that qualification. Amazing, how people don't just laugh Junior off the podium when he says something like, "The economy is booming because the tax cuts are working."

14. Eh, don't be so sure this is a BAD thing. |
|
Sounds like nudge, nudge, wink wink to me.
"Psssst....all you GOP types who aren't worried about Jesus, could give a shit about war, and are just worried about YOUR MONEY...I'm the LIBERAL guy for you, in that I will be liberal in ensuring that you aren't overtaxed, you keep your capital gains, and the rich get rich, and the poor get poorer...."
It's a way of assuring the non-fundy, non-warmonging, simply greedy GOP types that he'll not be to the Right of Attila the Hun. He'll keep that war going to keep those corporate stockholders happy, he'll keep our military-industrial complex humming,
Porgie Bush played the same "I'm an Idiot" self-deprecating game, and it didn't hurt him.

Liberals are an endangered species on the Democratic side of the aisle. There are none among the Republicans. None.
This is just the usual politician's trick of trying to be all things to all people.
