So Hollywood now now is selling having babies? Has the anorexia fad passed?
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 11:29 PM by RGBolen
My wife said the entertainment reporters at the awards show went on and on about star's "beautiful baby bumps." (She did have to tell me that meant their enlarged stomachs.) So I guess their message to little girls is to get out and have some babies. That that is now the thing to do?

5. Yep, and why can't we adopt?
Nutter that I think Angelina Jolie is, I do agree with her adopting babies that need raising instead of breeding more than the two that she and the adulterous Brad Pitt have begot.

7. If 'baby bumps' have become the latest fashion craze...........
I'm sure there will be plenty of children to adopt.

13. that is my point, India got their over population in hand by providing a TV set with a generator in
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 11:46 AM by sam sarrha
every village in India, they watched it en mass like a theater. the birth rate plummeted.. because they had something to do other than screw.

but the Corporations took advantage of TV, it changed to selling consumerism and Reich wing propaganda, rather than informing people.. it needs/requires Regulation.

18. Okay...
I thought that you meant it was irresponsible to have any children.

(I disagree with the 2 limit, but as long as you don't propose making it illegal to have more than two children, I totally understand that preference!)

2. Alas, the anorexia fad is still alive and well
I subscribe to Entertainment Weekly (it's like pop culture crack to me), and Mr. MG was looking at the photos from the Oscars, commenting on how scary all the freakishly thin actresses were. What was disturbing was some of these stick figures have just had babies...but they also have the resources to drop that residual baby weight in a heartbeat or die trying.

3. I've been noticing that too
And in clothing. All the new blouses look like maternity tops. Yech. It's like "If you are not pregnant--you can look like you are!!!" I've been calling it the bump clothing fad.

10. the clothing for non-pregnant women
looks like maternity clothes. The clothing for pregnant women is skin tight and shows their navels! Better to show the 'baby bumps' I guess!

4. I believe that's been going on a while now...
...at least a few years, that I'm aware of. I'm sad to hear they're still acting as if women having babies is some sort of 'trend.'

I noticed it a few years ago (at least) when Melissa Rivers was pregnant, and several other Hollywood actresses were as well. E! even did shows on "the pregnancy trend" in Hollywood. :eyes: Pretty sickening. It's at least part of the reason there are more "pregnancy magazines" on the newstands than ever before. There's even a website now, called bump watch or something like that--it focuses on all the celeb pregnancies.

14. Yeah, the "mommy cult" is pretty well entrenched in Hollywood, always has been.
That is, the "mommy cult" in which no one ever has morning sickness or feels bloated, or ever gains a single pound over what is necessary to sustain the pregnancy (and immediately works it off right after birth with the help of a personal trainer). Every minute of labor, childbirth and motherhood is enjoyed, delightful and utterly fulfilling for the celebrity mom. No baby flab, cracked nipples or postpartum depression allowed. There's not a thing about being mom to little Hunter or Tylee or Wyndham or Breylin or Jake or Mac or whoever that isn't pure unrelented bliss. Every day is a joy-filled sunny drowning in the deep pool of maternal ecstasy.

6. Bloated and hormonal is the new thin.
Methinks it is a fashion backlash against all the "You are too skinny! Someone get her a sandwich!" comments in the tabloids.

17. It's a twofer!
Being pregnant and then losing the baby weight in the shortest time gives them nearly a year of "reporting."

19. "Bumps"??? More like basketballs at the end ofthe pregnancy.
And then after the pregnancy, some of us have to deal with separated abdominal muscles even though we oinly gained 30-35 pounds. Don't get me started on the rest of the changes.
