Someone at Freeperville proudly posted this one..

Artist: Robert Alexander Anderson ~ Darien, Connecticut.

Subject: President George W. Bush ~ The Yale Club, New York

This distinguished portrait was created at the invitation of the President, and was based on life sittings at the President's ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Given the extraordinary and auspicious subject, the artist's portrayal is remarkable for its naturalness and aura of friendly informality. This effect is achieved by the facial expression, the unaffected and down-to-earth pose, the simple domestic setting, and the presence of the pet.

We are all able to easily declare the likeness perfect, the facial expression being one familiar to all Americans.

*snip*

The expressive hands are masterfully drawn and rendered. J.H.S.

More about the artist and commission.

Note: I found this exquisite portrait a couple of days ago, and knew it just HAD to be the Photo of the Day.

and I immediately thought of THIS one...

5. Hahaaaa! Btw, SoCal, that table in the background looks too bare
& somewhat sterile to fit the preznent's irratic attitude. It could use some of the preznent's personal stuff:

6. Your pic of Janet Leigh from "Psycho"
reminded me that the pic of W with the black bird reminds me of a scene in "Psycho" of Anthony Perkins sitting next to the stuffed raven. (Not that W in any way resembles Anthony Perkins, but W is indeed a psycho.)

8. I chose it for two reasons.
It fits my user name & it reflects how I feel about the choices we've been given for Democratic presidential nominees, out of all the more qualified candidates that I respect so profoundly. I don't dislike either candidate & it goes without saying that I will vote for the Democratic nominee in the general election. I'm baffled, though, & I'm worried about the future.

22. What is the artist saying about bush? What I see.
The crossed legs is protective, and the hands holding them in that position seems to reinforce that impression. Could he be holding himself in check?

The hands and legs are in conflict with the upper body. There's two people inside him, the friendly smiling person and the very shut down, guarded person.
