Who needs to focus on Iraq or global warming? We have baseball players to prosecute.
Impeachment may have been taken off the table, but who needs to prosecute a man who slaughtered millions of Iraqis, illegally wiretapped the phones of innocent Americans, lied to Congress about matters of national security, ate birthday cake with John McCain while an American city drowned, and authorized the use of torture in complete defiance of international law?

No, our Congress doesn't need to go after a person like that, they much bigger criminals to go after. They need to crack down on baseball players who may have used drugs, because we all know that Congress' time is best served calling on investigation of a single individual like Roger Clemens who may have used drugs. After, we all know that Roger Clemens' drug use has a profound impact on the lives of ordinary Americans. Once they prosecute him for doing drugs, I think it is time for Congress to call every other American who may have done drugs in the past to testify in front of Congress, because there is no more important duty our Congress has than to deal with individuals who use drugs one by one. After they are done with Clemens I say they go after Tommy Chong, lets just turn Congress into a drug court so we can show the world that we are tough on drugs.

They don't need to worry about the fact that people are being killed every day in Iraq, they don't need to worry about the fact that tens of millions have no access to health care, they don't need to worry about the fact that virtually nothing is being done to address global warming, they don't need to worry about all the homeless people that are sleeping on the streets tonight, as long as they tackle the important issues surrounding baseball everything will be OK.

They don't need to call the Halliburton CEO who ripped off our nation to testify under oath, they don't need to go after the oil company executives who have engaged in price gouging, they don't need to worry about the pharmaceutical companies who are willing to watch people die if it means they make more profits, no none of those people matter because they have a baseball player to investigate.

I am so proud of our Congress. So far in this term they have managed to find time to condemn MoveOn.org for criticizing the man who was leading the massacre in Iraq, they found time to recognize the importance of Christmas, and they found time to investigate baseball. I can forgive them for not doing anything to bring the war to an end and pretty much ignoring global warming, as long as I know that Roger Clemens is not destroying his own body. After all I am sure Roger Clemens was the top issue on voters minds when they went to the polls in 2006, they did not care about Iraq or holding this administration accountable they only cared about drug use among baseball players.

Aren't you glad our elected “representatives” have their priorities straight?

1. Well, I for one am VERY happy and grateful that they're concentrating on that subject because,
if it turns out that people who play a game for a living are using DRUGS, well, then, it means, we should all be VERY concerned about it because, I mean it's IMPORTANT, it must be, you see...what war? You mean we have a WAR going on?

7. Well maybe there is one thing that might be a little more important...
Britney Spears still has yet to testify before Congress, and obviously our nation needs her testimony before we can go about the real business of our nation.

But all that crap about Iraq, the economy falling apart, global warming, and torture, well none of that is important.

(And by the way, if you didn't figure out both Redstone and myself are being sarcastic).

5. Maybe eventually...

But I heard that there are also some famous musicians who do drugs, and they need to get some aging rock star up on the stand to question about his drug use. Once they finish questioning all the drug users who are famous, they can begin with the ones who are not famous. Then when everybody who has ever used drugs in their lives have testified before Congress they might have time to focus on the real criminals.

6. The media distracts on purpose.

The sports leagues have had too many hearings. Let them test their players for drugs, etc. and get out of our hair.

Heck they turned off my CSPAN2 cable channel. I need to pay more for cable to get it? Or is it for the election by our local Republican Comcast workers.

We have priorities during "war" and financial fraud, corruption don't we Congress? You are just so pathetic.

10. It's unfortunate.

This is what is important in the minds of millions of our fellow citizens. It's so fluffy, Congress is willing to get involved and be on camera. And off camera, autographed memorabilia all around.

Note that the athletes are under oath.

When the oil executives spoke before Congress last time, they weren't put under oath. I wonder why that was...

11. Great point.
Is it possible that Roger Clemens did not give them as big of campaign contribution as the oil company executives did? Hmmmmm...

12. Once again, it's the difference between rich and wealthy.

You can lose "rich" in a weekend in Vegas.

Your kids would have to work hard to lose "wealth" because you can't lose "wealth" in just one generation.
