Do You Get The Impression That The "Immunity" Issue Has Been Yanked Out Of Nancy's Hands |
|
I get the impression that Nancy Pelosi has little to nothing to do with whatever is going on behind the scenes with the Telecom Immunity question. Stenny Hoyer (sp?) seems to be running that show but there is something else going on here that seems odd. There is a Senate version of the law, there is a House version of the law, apparently there are negotiations going on right now between the houses (and the fucking White House) to find a version that can be agreed to - but what happened to a formal Conference? Have we given that quaint old custom the heave-ho too?

1. Nancy has never show much of an interest in being a leader |
|
In my opinion, she's been a lapdog, and not much more.

3. Nancy was satisfied with being the first |
|
it was never about leading. It kind of reminds me of my bass fishing days, it was never about landing the bass for me it was all about enticing them to take my 'none edible' lure and once I set the hook on them it didn't matter to me whether it broke the line or whatever because for my part the fun was over. Thats how I see it for Nancy, shes comfortable with being the first. sad but it appears to be true. If there is any doubts as to that then check out her demeanor during the last Lie of the Union speech turdman gave. Actions speak much louder than words everytime and always.

The strategry is on how to pull this off without looking like they sold us down the river, its never been a question of if, to give immunity. IMHO

There's been a conference, but until the other day the GOOPers were boycotting it. They want an up or down House vote on the Senate bill with immunity. Hoyer has been the one stalling and controlling the agenda. But that's been his role in many issues. Remember, Hastert didn't really have the power...the Speaker has to appear to be non-partisan in pushing legislation and the real "heavy lifting" is done by the Majority Leader...just remember how things ran under DeLay.
From watching Hoyer the other day, it looks like he wants to re-open debate...which is fine with me. He could re-introduce the version the House passed...have a new one introduced...or let the Senate bill go to the floor but allow for ammendments...poison pill it.
Methinks the Democratic leadership saw how large support among their base is on confronting boooosh on this issue and will keep kicking the can down the road.
