Early voting numbers from Tarrant County, Texas, a really red part of Texas.
The record vote turnout for any primary was in 2000 when 84,000 Republicans voted in their Primary.

At the close of early voting there were 87,000 Democratic early votes and 37,000 early Republican votes.

For those concerned about Republican cross-over, only 7% of early Democratic voters had voted in a Republican primary over the last ten years and 5% had only voted in one Republican primary in the last ten years.

There ain't gonna' be 'nough room for the precinct convention. Looks like we'll be caucusing in the parking lot.

2. It's a record turnout for Democrats this primary, for all key demographics.
Whites, blacks, and Hispanics are all voting in record numbers. Young people, too.

We're Ba-ack!!

It's been mainly bad news for us since 1990, but this is looking great.

3. A Sleeping Giant Has Awaken...
The corporate media all but ignores the large number of Democratic voters this year...across the country and across the board. They claim the increase is due to "independents" and "Raygun Democrats" (wtf are those??)...rather than the fact that many new people are getting involved...people who had turned off in the past and saw how repugnicans have ruined the country.

Congrats to Texas Democrats! Here's hoping the Lone Star State purges itself of the boooosh stench.

5. If we are sick of him I could imagine how the Texans must feel about him
we have some glorious days in our near future. Glorious in this case being free at last of this madman and his henchmen. I just hope we have the fortitude to finish the job this time so the next time this shit happens at least it'll be with different players and treasonous crooks.

7. I Also Hope Ronnie Earle Cranks Up Soon...
I haven't heard any word on the Bugman's case lately. The ultimate Schedenfraude is seeing that scumbag in an orange jump suit.

It's been heartening working in my little purple patch of suburbia this year as I meet more and more people who are not just wanting change and excited about voting for Democrats this year (these are many people who I've called on for the past 8 years and got the brush off) but also are tired of the repugnican party and its right wing enablers.

The battle to retake our country is a long one...but very gratifying to see it happening. Just two years ago, the "pundits" were predicting the Democratic party's collapse and we were damn close to the abyss...with a veto-proof House & Senate. I still remember the major funk I went into following the '04 elections (definitely the darkest of dark days) and how I now see a light and hope for the future.

While it's easy to be frustrated...and all is not rosy...I have my share of angst about the Democratic party and its leadership, but I'm also energized by a party being transformed by new voices and participants. Now the tough job...following through and winning as many seats as possible this November and putting a Democrat in the White House.

Cheers...

:hi:
