NASA Baffled by Unexplained Force Acting on Space Probes
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/080229-spacecraft-anomaly.html

Mysteriously, five spacecraft that flew past the Earth have each displayed unexpected anomalies in their motions.

These newfound enigmas join the so-called "Pioneer anomaly" as hints that unexplained forces may appear to act on spacecraft.

A decade ago, after rigorous analyses, anomalies were seen with the identical Pioneer 10 and 11 spacecraft as they hurtled out of the solar system. Both seemed to experience a tiny but unexplained constant acceleration toward the sun.

A host of explanations have been bandied about for the Pioneer anomaly. At times these are rooted in conventional science — perhaps leaks from the spacecraft have affected their trajectories. At times these are rooted in more speculative physics — maybe the law of gravity itself needs to be modified.

Now Jet Propulsion Laboratory astronomer John Anderson and his colleagues — who originally helped uncover the Pioneer anomaly — have discovered that five spacecraft each raced either a tiny bit faster or slower than expected when they flew past the Earth en route to other parts of the solar system.

I have my own silly theory but its as good as anybody's elses

On You Tube we are all having a discussion about the causes
bottomline is that gravitational laws may have to be relooked at or other phenomenon are the cause

2. I would have called it
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nibiru">Nibiru, but yeah. It could be a number of things including changes in gravitational tidal forces, a change in the Sun's gravitation, Earth's flip-flopping polarity.

But there is growing evidence that the sun my have a burned-out binary partner that is on a 3600-year orbit. But astronomers and physicists haven't found it yet.

I hope it's not a black hole coming towards our solar system!

4. This could be evidence that something is out there that
is affecting our Earth Rotation
They are expecting to see Nibiru soon this could be some evidence
for it...

And then there is Dark matter and that is a possibility thats throwing things off

or Global Warming with the increase wind speeds is increasing the spin of the Earth
thats actual evidence scientists have gathered

totally fascinating
look up Pioneer Anomaly very interesting

8. "there is growing evidence that the sun my have a burned-out binary partner".. got a link?
Where, precisely, have you seen this "growing evidence"?

The fact that there is a slight anomaly with the velocity data from the pioneer probes, etc. does NOT mean, in fact, that Jesus is coming back or the Mayans invented television.

What it may mean is any number of things- I would guess that either dark matter displays smaller, solar-system level effects just as it affects gravity-level motion, or there are apsects of gravitational force per cosmology that we don't 100% understand, or both- but if you're looking for an excuse to pack your bags like the people in the film "When Worlds Collide", this aint it.

6. The explanation is simple: There is
more land mass in the northern hemisphere than in the southern hemisphere. i.e., rock being heaver than water. So gravity has more of an influence for the satellite approaching the Northern hemisphere, than when leaving the southern hemisphere.

Change the trajectory so the satellite approaches the southern hemisphere first and leaves from the Northern hemispheres and the satellite will slow a bit. The opposite as the satellite trajectory in the article.

7. The first evidence of "Global Suckage".
The only way to reverse this trend is to elect a Democratic president, get the hell out of Iraq, and institute a system of Dickhead Offsets for Republicans, Corporate Leaders, and Bigots.

20. I heard it was Thetans jumping off at their next stop, just used
the probes as busses, mass transit and all that. Those Thetans had to go somewhere after being tossed out onto the street, as their human containers jetisoned them.

If you haven't read this thread:

Then please go on about your lives as though nothing has happened.

THose of you that have already know that it is too late...

Someone has unleashed THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry hehe too much wine for me.

Perhaps the massive energy of the sun is causing fluxuations in the gravitational field in some unknown way? Hasn't it been a Quixotic adventure to try and link magnetism to gravity for some time now?

Or maybe it's Aliens flying by in their gravity drive spaceships?
