4. Ask Poppy. He was there that day.
At least that's what one-day-to-be President George Herbert Walker Bush told the FBI
less than an hour after President Kennedy was assassinated.

WHO RULES AMERICA? HOW DID WE GET HERE?

Joan Mellen
Stewart Mott House, Washington, D.C., September 14, 2007.

I like to begin my talks with a mantra. It goes like this. Jim Garrison, district attorney of Orleans Parish, whose investigation into the Kennedy assassination is the subject of my book, “A Farewell To Justice,” after it was all over and Clay Shaw was acquitted, was asked: how could you ever have believed that you could convict CIA operative Clay Shaw for participation in the conspiracy to kill President Kennedy in a state court in Louisiana?

“I guess I thought I was living in the country I was born in,” Garrison said.

This line has particular resonance today. Many of us were not born in a country where martial law was legitimized; where the President could countermand any law he wanted to with promiscuous signing statements; where there was illegal government surveillance of citizens accompanied by neither warrants nor probable cause; where what library books you took out could become known to the government; where America, having legalized the use of torture, was defined as a country inevitably pursuing preemptive foreign wars, and where, as in George Orwell's “1984,” war was a permanent part of the country's identity. You all know the litany.

SNIP...

Sometimes there is a historical moment where a society suffers a dramatic reversal in political direction.

I would place that moment at the assassination of President Kennedy. At that instant, the Bushes and the Cheneys, serving so diligently the Bechtels and Halliburtons and their multifarious cohort, mostly in the western part of the country, seized the political control of this country. This is why discussion of the murder of President Kennedy is as relevant today as it was in 1963 and 1964, and why there has never been nor will there ever be an honest investigation of this crime so long as that investigation is government-sponsored. That the Kennedy family, in particular Robert Kennedy, opposed any open investigation of President Kennedy's death is one dimension of the story that has led me to the conclusion that we must not look today to the Democratic Party for redress.

I spent seven years on my investigation of the Kennedy assassination. I went beyond Jim Garrison's work to include the thousands of documents released after his death to the National Archives under the JFK Act passed by a Congress with some interest in transparency. We are not likely to see similar legislation to open the records of the 9/11 Commission. That is not speculation. Philip Zelikow, the executive director of the 9/11 Commission, admitted on NPR that he was not about to make the same mistake the Warren Commission did; he was not about to release for public and scholarly scrutiny the documents his commission collected. When Lieutenant Colonel Tony Shaffer came forward with information about the “Able Danger” unit of military intelligence, he was swiftly discredited. The “New York Times” buried his astonishing revelations in its back pages. Col. Shaffer told me when I met him at the office of his attorney, Mark Zaid, that he had lost his job.

I interviewed more than a thousand people in my effort to contribute to the question of who planned the murder of President Kennedy. Among them was a former mercenary and soldier-of-fortune named Gerald Patrick Hemming, a shrewd former CIA asset, who remarked to me in passing, that “John F. Kennedy was the last president who thought he could take power.” In his youth, inexperience and sense of entitlement, Kennedy could not imagine that his CIA enemies would eliminate him.

26. possibly....
but people like he, usually outsource the actual dirty work..would he have taken the risk? Was there enough bad blood between the two families, for him to have taken a special pleasure out of pulling the trigger himself? possibly....he admits being in Dallas that day...but NO says he, he can't remember what he was doing...that indicates he was involved...and he admitted knowledge when he made the comment...that IF the American people knew what they'd done, there would be chaos in the streets....but...unfortunately, those of us who felt the story was nothing but lies, including the "Warren Report" still didn't know or understand the scope of what "they" had done, and how it was going to lead us to where we are right now...There may be a special place in hell reserved just for the whole lot of them......wb

44. Remember, Poppy was just a Button man, a "Mafia" soldier then
MAYBE he was as high as whatever the Bushie equivalent of Capo is. In either case, it's very possible that he either pulled the trigger or was the Control Officer for those that did. This would be commensurate with the duties of a Bushie Capo or Button at that time.

Just as John Gotti started out as a Gambino Soldier, then Capo, before whacking Castellano, so was Poppy Bush in the same relative positon for the Bushie-Nazi bunch, who were probably being run by the Dulles Brothers and their Caporegime in those days. Or perhaps Grandpa Prescott Bush was still running the American Nazifriends at that time.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/document/document_20070723.shtml

Poppy was just a promising young button or maybe he made Capo by the time they murdered JFK.

So yes, I do agree that he may have pulled the trigger, but I would guess Control Officer plus in charge of the coverup is more likely.

Courtesy of our friends at CBS:

...After a deluded gunman assassinated President Kennedy,

our nation turned to Gerald Ford and a select handful of others
to make sense of that madness.
And the conspiracy theorists can say what they will,
but the Warren Commission report will always have the final definitive say
on this tragic matter.
Why? Because Jerry Ford put his name on it
and Jerry Ford’s word was always good...

36. He at least knew...
LBJ at least knew as did others and reality of LBJ was Halliburton benefitted greatly from his becoming president. Just as Halliburton benefitted greatly from George W Bush becoming president.

The dots are there. Too many refuse to connect the dots. In some cases because there are some Democratic dots as well as Republican dots.

The main dot is Prescott Bush. Who supported the overthrow of our government in the 1930s. Who committed acts of treason and was not held accountable. Who instead went on to create what became the CIA.

Eisenhower warned us all about the "military-industrial complex" and you have to wonder if he knew who was behind it.

Those who have happened upon the truth have inevitably ended up dead. Some believe that like Dorothy Kilgallen, John F Kennedy Jr happened upon the truth and like Dorothy Kilgallen made the mistake of telling someone.

According to some, the truth lies in papers in a heavily guarded vault at the Kennedy Library. The papers of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Who instructed that the papers are to remain sealed until the last of her grandchildren have died. So few of us will ever know the truth.

Except for those of us who have connected the dots.

Who killed Kennedy???? For them it is some conspiracy of some vague departments, or RW groups. Or Johnson. Or The Mafia. They can't decide on any single person or group because they don't have any evidence.

Trail of evidence? Unknown or unnecessary.
Names? Unnamed/unknown.
Timeline? Just as unknown and unnecessary as the other parts of the "evidence."

As I watched the video from the Press Conference, I noticed that for a moment, Oswald becomes visibly shaken when confronted by a reporter asking if he shot the president...initially Oswald says he has not been charged w/that...but when the reporter informs him he has been charged, you can see the epiphany Oswald is having...he knows, (and shows), he has been set up.

For all of the talk in the world....nothing can replace body language when it comes into play.

The John Tunheim Panel/1992 JFK Classified Records Act --- concluded that...

"Oswald was employed by the CIA working on high level assignments and probably also for the FBI."

64. There is no evidence supporting that ---
Oswald paraffin tests indicate that he did NOT shoot a gun or rifle that day ---

PLUS there is no chain of evidence for the rifle ---

FBI did not find Oswald fingerprints on the rifle . . .
until AFTER the team of fingerprinters visited the funeral home ---

Additionally, the neck wound had NO exit ---
and the back wound which was actually in JFK's right shoulder and way below the neck wound
also had NO exit ---

Basically, Oswald seemed to be a CIA trained spy who was tracking this right-wing conspiracy ---

38. Who rose to power after the overthrow? I should say, "What criminal did?"
Criminal NIXON, of course, becomes President. He was in Dallas that day too. So, those who supported Nixon are the likely conspirators in a conspiracy scenario. Simple logic. Following an overthrow, successive regimes are likely to conduct themselves criminally, covering up their crimes and thereby evidencing their true origin.

Also, conspirators likely reappear in power again and again as a rule, after overthrows. A good example is how dictators install their children to ensure they are not later tried for their crimes and/or the overthrow.

That's why JFK was taken out and why it matters today.

Eisenhower tried to warn us..
YouTube - Eisenhower on the Military Industrial Complex

Kennedy attempted to hold those in power at the Pentagon and CIA accountable..

As depicted in ( Thirteen Days (2000) ) it was Lyman Lemnitzer and Director of the CIA Allen Welsh Dulles .. who JFK fired for their roles in Operation Northwoods and the Bay of Pigs..

Seven Days in May (1964) was inspired by Gen. LeMay[br />Plot Outline: US military leaders plot to overthrow the President because he supports a nuclear disarmament treaty and they fear a Soviet sneak attack.

Kevin Costner's Thirteen Days was based on the White House Tapes during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

And even though it was taken from the actual White House briefings, as with Seven Days in May, the Pentagon refused to cooperate with the production of Thirteen Days because it made General LeMay appear megalomaniacal .. Documented here at the 41:50 minute mark of Operation Hollywood

50. Big Picture on Fallon
Looks like the bad guys have gotten it their way again:

Talking Points Memo | Big Picture on Fallon
The interlocking rumor and speculation mills are now buzzing with theories about whether Adm. Fallon jumped or was pushed from his perch as the top military commander for US military forces across the Middle East (what the Pentagon refers to as 'Central Command'). But there is a big picture that is important to keep in focus. That is, quite simply, that Fallon is leaving because he was apparently too sane for the Bush White House..

The Existentialist Cowboy: "When the government murders truth"
The significance of Jim Garrison is not that he solved a murder, but that he stated the greater truth about a murder than was witnessed by the world on November 22, 1963. It was not only John F. Kennedy who was murdered that day but American democracy itself. It was, in Garrison's words, a coup d'etat!

56. David Mamet's revisionist history
Thanks Mimosa, I hope you're right but this bit of revisionist history from David Mamet is not encouraging:

David Mamet: Why I Am No Longer a 'Brain-Dead Liberal'
Bush got us into Iraq, JFK into Vietnam. Bush stole the election in Florida; Kennedy stole his in Chicago. Bush outed a CIA agent; Kennedy left hundreds of them to die in the surf at the Bay of Pigs. Bush lied about his military service; Kennedy accepted a Pulitzer Prize for a book written by Ted Sorenson. Bush was in bed with the Saudis, Kennedy with the Mafia. Oh..

http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0811,374064,374064,1.html/full

here's my reply:

Congratulations Mr Mamet. From 'Brain-Dead' Liberal to 'Brain-Dead' NeoCon in a single bound (albeit not a very large bound). Is this a distinction without a difference?

Just to correct some of your revisionist history. Eisenhower, not JFK, got us into Vietnam. Eisenhower did however warn us about the military-industrial complex. Which apparently, like President Bush, you have learned to love the use of the bomb. Too bad you could not have shed your admitted 'Brain-Deadedness' in your conversion to "Conservatism".

Another historical fallacy in your argument was to draw a parallel between GWB43 and JFK. While JFK was reigning in his Generals (BuckNut;o) Curtis LeMay and Lyman Lemnitzer). The opposite has been the case under Bush/Cheney. The Generals, Adm. 'Fox' Fallon (a True Patriot and True Conservative) being the most recent example, have done all they could to reign in Dick and Dubya.

Certainly this resumé enhancing screed will stand you in good stead for your next gig. Writing for the 'Jack Bauer' character on '24'? Or writing the "news" for ABCCBSMSNBCFOXCNN? Keep up the good work Mr Mamet.

48. Mafia
Kennedy's assassination was the result of a longstanding feud between the Italian mob in Chicago and the Irish mob led by Joe Kennedy.

If nothing else, it's at least as plausible as the official story, and doesn't make me want to get out my tinfoil hat.

49. I gotta say Poppy Bush was involved directly in the assassination.
Even if he wasn't the trigger man, he was involved in carrying out the plan and the subsequent cover-up.

59. The CIA did it
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 01:25 PM by Mimosa
Only the CIA could have put together the network necessary to have pulled off the assassanation/coup. Jim Marrs may have gone wacky since he wrote it, but his book "Crossfire" upon which Oliver Stone based the movie "JFK" is a big, enthralling fact-packed read which tracks all the facts of who, where and how. A lot of people had started to talk, a lot of people met untimely deaths within 10 years of JFK's assassination.

I highly recommend "Crossfire" by Jim Marrs. Also "Mafia Kingfish" by John Davis, who was/is (?) a journalist and cousin to Jaquelyn Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. I think he found out some facts for her. "Mafia Kingfish" is very difficult to find. I wish I'd bought it instead of checking it out of the library. It seems to disappear from libraries.

From where comes the report that Gerald Ford -who was in on the investigation of JFK's assassination- give a deathbed confession that the CIA did it? I never heard about it.

68. A sharpshooter firing from the sixth floor of the Texas Schoolbook Repository.
Physical evidence suggests that that shooter was Lee Harvey Oswald. Whether you assume any additional motivation beyond the attention seeking of a deranged mind, I doubt that will ever be proven or disproven to universal satisfaction.

70. Hunt? Sturgis? Hemming?

a) E. Howard Hunt

b) Frank Sturgis

c) Gerry P. Hemming
It has been noted that Hemming travels seem to have mirrored those of Lee Harvey Oswald. This has led to the suggestion that he was working for the FBI in preparing a "legend" for Oswald.

d) All of the above?
In August, 1978, Victor Marchetti published an article about the assassination of John F. Kennedy in the liberty Lobby newspaper, Spotlight. In the article Marchetti argued that the House Special Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) had obtained a 1966 CIA memo that revealed E. Howard Hunt, Frank Sturgis and Gerry Patrick Hemming had been involved in the plot to kill Kennedy. Marchetti's article also included a story that Marita Lorenz had provided information on this plot. Later that month Joseph Trento and Jacquie Powers wrote a similar story for the Sunday News Journal.

71. Nixon played some role
or at least had knowledge. If you read Nixon's WH tapes he talks about the need to quash the Watergate investigation because it will lead to revelations about "the Bay of Pigs thing" which Haldemanlater revealed in his book referred to the Kennedy assasination. Nixon refers to "the Cubans" who were the Watergate burglars (including E.Howard Hunt) who were connected to the Bay of Pigs thing.
