I just called Congressman Sylvester Reyes' (D-TX) office
at (202) 225-4831. Here's a paraphrase of the conversation I had with his aide:

Rateyes: I have a question I'd like to ask.

Aide: OK

Rateyes: I have been reading over the weekend that Congressman Reyes is talking about backing down on refusing telecom immunity in the FISA bill, giving the White House what they want. Is that true?

Aide: No. The Congressman hasn't yet made up his mind. He is looking at the documents from the White House, and won't make up his mind until later in the week.

Rateyes: Well, that sounds like he is thinking about giving in on telecom immunity.

Aide: He hasn't yet made up his mind about that.

Rateyes: Well, then, let me give you my two cents. This smells like some kind of back-room, under-the-table deal making taking place, and it stinks. The telecom companies are probably already indemnified by the government, which means that telecom immunity accomplishes nothing but allowing Bush to get away, again, with criminal activity. We need Congressman Reyes to stand up and protect the Constitution rather than making deals to protect Bush's rear-end.

Aide: I'll pass along the message.

Rateyes: Thank you.

-----------------------------

PLEASE, FOR THE SAKE OF THE COUNTRY, PICK UP THE PHONE (YOU PROBABLY HAVE CELL PHONE THAT HAS UNLIMITED LONG DISTANCE) AND CALL CONGRESSMAN REYES AT (202) 225-4831, AND LET HIM KNOW THAT HE SHOULD STAND DOWN TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, AND STAND UP TO BUSH, AND DO THE RIGHT THING.

In the meantime, let me say: Fuck Rockefeller, and the horse he rode in on.

2. Screw Rockefeller...
I don't give a damn who he endorses. He's a turncoat. This should be a no-brainer for a real Democrat.

13. I called too.
It seems Reyes aide is saying he won't back blanket immunity. I asked why then are there negotiation talks at all, what is there to negotiate? He said, not much of anything considering he won't back down on blanket immunity which is the major importance of this bill.

I asked him to send a clear message to Reyes from this citizen, I expect he stand by the constitutional rights of the people above the protection of this Administration.

Either this office is getting hit hard with calls, that the aide is better versed in handling callers, or there is at least one aspect Reyes is not willing to back.. which is blanket immunity.

17. Other Blue Dogs And Weak Knees Need A Kick As Well
Forget about the Senate...the last line in this battle is in the House. Hoyer wants to split the baby here...have a vote that lets those who oppose immunity have their say, then ramrod a final bill that enables booooshie's crimes since "the votes are there". Now if those votes aren't...then what?

I'm looking for a list of those Congresscritters who are leaning toward caving into this regime...those are the people who need to be blitzed over the next couple days and to bring forward all those who have had their phones tapped and lives disrupted by this illegal invasion of American privacy...it needs a face that people can understand and relate to. Christine Armanpour would be quite a spokesperson.
