Did you know that peace activists like to act like thugs
and throw rocks and debris during events?

I mean, that's what you would have deduced had you watched the 60 Minutes story on the Pentagons new ray gun that aired last night.

Did anyone else see it?

To demonstrate the effectiveness of the ray gun, the military decided to have a bunch of soliders pretend like they were anti-war activists. They all held signs, including one that said "World Peace.

WORLD PEACE!! Get the ray gun!! :eyes:

Out of so many issues involving so many different groups of people at events, they select those who are against the war to deem a threat for their little demo.

I just thought it was insulting bullshit. I don't know how anyone else feels.

The story, if interested ---> http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/60minutes/main3415.shtml (select in videos section).

2. The Military Industrial Complex is out of Control
They produce nothing for this country to export except death and destruction

6. Well that's the thing....it'll be in the hands of law enforcement
agencies eventually.

There's no doubt in my mind.

5. Disgusting
One of the most debated topics in the American History is the debate over the use of military force to quell domestic issues. It had always come down to if the military is required to enforce a law the law is the problem!
States were allowed to use their National Guard units to protect property but the US military units were for protection against foreign invaders and overseas incursions.

8. Surprised?
They'll be using it against people who are rioting for food. Bet on it.

9. That was hard to miss.
The defense department rep only talked about its use overseas to quell riots and such. But that "demonstration" left no doubt about whom the ray gun is intended for.

(Pun unavoidable.)

10. "as long as it's used properly there's no harm to your body" and if it isn't???
and other quotes from the video

"potential for abuse is NOT what's holding it up"

"I loved it...read someone's mind-know what someone's intentions are....not a tourist, but a terroist or adversary"

12. It seems to me that using this would logically result in MORE violence
as the only place to be safe from it would be on top of the police line.

Unintended consequences.

13. Well, after some long hard thunk
I've come to the conclusion that the Pentagons real enemy IS peace. They don't seem to like it not one bit. Find ways to start wars and kick Peace, most of the time World Peace, in the ass over and over.

Not a friendly, trustworthy group death dealers be.

14. That part certainly did seem like BS. That said it was nice...
...to see some of the military officers arguing for non-lethal crowd control alternatives which is totally against the grain. For instance I'd rather feel hot for a minute than get hit with a rubber bullet or those gawd awful sand bags.

19. Why not just not occupy other countries? or end wars of aggression?
When they introduce that shit here, its time that antiwar people to seriously reconsider what tactics we are going to use ourselves.

18. That whole thing was so disgusting. This weapon the David Martin has such a infatuation
with is nothing more than a way to make it easier for the US to occupy nations, against the will of its inhabitants, with less killing, but more effectively.

I think they fried his brain. Or perhaps it was already fried due to his ideological support for war and occupation.

He is nothing more than a spokesperson for the pentagon and the US war machine.

War Made Easy.

20. This is going to make the operators of this weapon
like the flamethrower operators in WWII and Vietnam - the most hated target, the one least likely to be captured instead of executed, the first to be targeted for retaliation. I sincerely doubt there will be any mercy from a large crowd for those behind the controls of this thing - which can only be targeted at a small percentage of any large crowd at one time.

The second they pull this thing out at some rally, someone will recognize the truck and dish for what it is, and then the shit will hit the fan. All the riot gear in the world won't protect you from a dozen rocks or a Molotov, once someone lets the rest of the crowd know you plan on preemptively boiling their eyes and genitals to protect a dictator.

Bringing out that truck is equivalent to firing the first shot at a crowd that may very well not hesitate to respond. I can't imagine it will be long until people start figuring out what kinds of clothing block microwaves effectively.
