Geraldo Won't Shake "Shameful" "Hate-Monger" Lou Dobbs' Hand
Geraldo Rivera appeared on "The View" today to promote his new book, His Panic, which prompted a discussion of how Americans fear immigrants. He explained that this fear is "a nativist reaction that started at the grassroots" and that it is "driven by the most savage talk radio campaign in history." When asked to name names, Geraldo targeted Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs (who, incidentally, makes his debut as a talk radio host today).

"Lou Dobbs of CNN has been shameful in his hate-mongering," Geraldo said. "I would not shake his hand because this is a man that's done more damage to the cause of sensibile, comprehensive reform than anyone with a microphone."

7. Illegals?
Are you talking about Mexican citizens? I believe they are called Mexicans and not "illegals".

8. When they come here without gaining citizenship, they most certainly are "illegals."

10. They are called undocumented citizens...
just like Europeans, Asians, South Americans, et al who overstay their visas or cross between both borders (There's two borders you know...). Undocumented Mexicans aren't the only ones who come here without gaining citizenship.

12. I'm missing your point
People here illegally are people here illegally. I don't care where they come from. I have friends that play by the rules and get sent home when their extension is not approved.

Is it too much to ask that we only let people in who are approved? If it is, why do we bother having laws?

next to the "I don't care where they come from...".

No one mentioned "Mexicans" in this discussion but you. The link provided by the OP didn't specifically called on Mexicans. That is precisely the "Hate-mongering" Geraldo talks about.

You are missing my point cause of xenophobia. Immigration laws are the problem and "hating" won't solve it for us.

18. Wow
My friend from the United Kingdom(who owned a business here) gets sent home, and you feel comfortable mocking my outrage about rule of law not being applied equally?

"Immigration laws are the problem"? How about how we cheered on election theft in Mexico?
http://www.gregpalast.com/stealing-mexico/

And how we created an even worse situation in Mexico due to NAFTA

Hmm...maybe time made that better...nope.

I'm not a xenophobe, but apparently you have a vested interest in the continuing inequity. Good day.

21. undocumented citizens from a foreign country who are living and
working in the USA under hidden conditions are often referred to as "illegals", since they are essentially here illegally.
What's the difference in being called an illegal vs. an undocumented citizen?

19. "Shameful" "Hate-Monger" Lou Dobbs'
OR Truth Teller.
Illegal immigration and the exploitation of people from other countries won't disappear because Lou Dobbs stops talking about it.
He chooses to take a viewpoint that some don't agree with.
Can't please everyone, but Dobbs does support a great many.
What he has presented is a true reflection of what many US Citizens including many immigrants who have come here through the legal processes actually do feel but have no had no voice to say it.

Thanks to NAFTA and Corporate greed as well as governments of other countries who would rather see their own citizens exploited by US corporate greed, than provide a secure and healthy life within their own borders.

The backs of the US taspayers who have built the roads and school systems and comforts the immigrants all seek and use within the USA, can no longer carry the load.

Dobbs points this out very clearly.
THats all.
There is no argument.
Some pay taxes, yes, but MANY don't bother, and do what they can to avoid contributing.

Corporate has exploited the illegal market and the illegal market exploits the US citizen.
wtf do we do to stop this? Not talk about it?
IT has to be addressed. This country is being bled from the inside.
The problem did not start with Lou Dobbs.
