"indefinite combat operations"? As in, perpetual? As in "this is how we play the time of war card forever to elect Republicans".

So really, experience, inexperience, it doesn't really matter -- what matters is that you are a stubborn, power mad, war mongering, petulant idiot any other plan is for cowards. For Bush, it's all good.

No Need for Lawmakers' Approval of Iraq Pact, U.S. Reasserts

By Karen DeYoung
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, March 6, 2008; Page A18

The Bush administration yesterday advanced a new argument for why it does not require congressional approval to strike a long-term security agreement with Iraq, stating that Congress had already endorsed such an initiative through its 2002 resolution authorizing the use of force against Saddam Hussein.

The 2002 measure, along with the congressional resolution passed one week after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks authorizing military action "to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States," permits indefinite combat operations in Iraq, according to a statement by the State Department's Bureau of Legislative Affairs.

1. Reason #233678369
Why is was incredibly stupid to give Bush the sole authority to conduct war in Iraq...and twice as tragic since the "yes" votes were made almost entirely for cynical, political purposes. There is a river of blood running through Washington, and it feeds many of our politician's thirst for power and influence.

3. did anyone catch C Span 2 last nite, the House Committee
on Foreign Policy was on Chairman Ackerman, it was very informative, and these reps know exactly what is going on, with this whole 114 Resolution in 2002 giving that dimson approval for attacking Iraq. Representative Ackerman said they are aware that this regime continues to ignore the three branches of government, the American people, and rule of law. They said they could end this if the Congress had more "courage" and put a stop to this occupation. Talk is cheap, action is needed, and they are well aware of how this filthy administration interprets the laws their own sick way, and also they want the next President to handle this conflict. Representative Delahunt was also on the panel too.

4. Unfortunately The System Is Gamed...
The GOOP spent the last 30 years baiting the refs (the corporate media), bribing them and then feeding a boilerplate of misinformation and distortions to the public that was a smoke screen for their real mission...greed and power. This regime came in knowing it could do whatever it wanted as the system had been so poisoned that any scrutiny could be shouted down or intimidated away. For 6 years, this regime had a rubber stamp that enabled them to politicize the entire executive and a good portion of the judicial...the damage is deep and on-going.

The problem for an Ackerman is not what to do, but where to start...and do so against a well-organized campaign of stonewalling and obstructing. This regime is marking its time...it has since '04...and doesn't care about the rule of law or even any veneer of honesty or decency. This is all about raiding the treasury while they can and leaving the mess for Democrats to clean up.

The real test here will be after this regime is expelled...will people want accountability? Will it be "let's move on?" I sure as hell won't forget and will always demand justice be brought to ALL the criminals in this regime...no matter how long it takes.

Cheers....

5. they shouldn't get away with their crimes that is for damn sure
they have ruin this country, its people and other countries. We all know the list. I hope justice is done to all of them.

maybe if they held Nixon accountable for his crimes instead of pardoning him they would learn from others mistakes not to ignore rule of law and doing what they damn well please. We will be the ones that will be paying for their mistakes, while they put their feet up. Sickening.

8. He don't need no stinking approval

Since when does the King need congressional approval for anything?
