Two young ladies, both Georgia natives, murdered this week

Lauren A. Burk, 18, was alive when authorities arrived on the scene Tuesday evening, but so far police won't reveal whether she was able to tell them who shot her or offer other clues, according to MyFOXAtlanta. Burk died later Tuesday night at a local hospital of a single gunshot wound to the head. About a half hour after she was found, her car burst into flames.



In a separate case, another Georgia college student — this one from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill — was also shot in the head and killed this week.



Student body president Eve Marie Carson, 22, was found dead on Wednesday. Authorities and school officials identified her as the shooting victim on Thursday.

Authorities were investigating whether the two murders are linked. Marietta, where Burk was from, and Carson's hometown of Athens are about 67 miles apart.

This is just my opinion, but it seems that a growing number of men in this country now view women as completely dispensable objects, who they can kill on a whim. I find this pattern very disturbing, and we should all feel alarmed.
