IL 14 Election Watch...
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 08:04 PM by KharmaTrain
Polls are closing at 7pm Central...here's hoping we have a new Democratic member in the House as of Monday morning...replacing Gym Teach Denny.

The best place I've found for information and results is Prairie State Blue

http://www.prairiestateblue.com/showDiary.do;jsessionid=9999843DBE87E1BB3EA07FF1BCE6E90C?diaryId=4068

If anyone else is following and has a better site to get results, please let me know.

Excelsior!!!

Update...The Prairie State server seems to be having overload troubles...

Here's a live blog on DKOS:

Jim Oberweis is a disgusting, right wing, piece of shit homophobic asshole. I'd dearly love to see his political career end tonight.

3. This Could Be A Very Sweet Victory
I've been in and around this district since 1979...for many years I felt like I was one of the only Democrats in Kane County. This will be a pleasure to make the Milk Nazi a three-time loser and hopefully put a silver stake in his ghoulish political career. Heck, I refuse to go into one of his ice cream joints...talking several people out of using them to cater parties.

There's been a real solid party effort out here...volunteers from many unions and other Democratic campaigns...including <shock> Rahm Emanuel! I'm hoping for heavy vote in Aurora, Batavia, DeKalb and St. Charles...if they turn out, it'll be a very good night.

Cheers...

7. Here's Hopes The Hispanic Turnout Is Big...
Several unions have been working hard on getting out that vote...considering Mr. Oberweis' kind regard for them folks.

Hang in there, the blue tide is starting to head your way. A decade ago, my area, just east of the 14th was crimson red...now there's no elected repugnicans representing my area...even down to the state senator and rep. For too many years, Democrats neglected that district...it's good to see all the effort that went into this election...and on such short notice.

Cheers...

BTW...I still prefer Bressler's Ice Cream...one of those memories of childhood that is still around.

5. it`s up to everyone east of dixon to get foster in
i voted today at 3:30 and there were 100 votes so far. the three poll workers- republicans-were pissed cause fat boy resigned instead of declaring he was`t going to run again. my precinct is about 90% republican so i`m figuring maybe 5 votes for foster..
we get to do this all over in nov and with obama on the ticket, foster has a great chance to take the district...

60. It's Gonna Be Messy
Before there's the pressure on Oberweis (and I agree, he barely won the primary and is a 4 time loser now), it'll be fun to see what happens with the RNCC...Tom Cole shot the "wad" tonight and came up snake-eyes...rumors are he and Boenner don't get along and a loss tonight would seal his fate. How delicious that would be to have to change heads of the RNCC at a critical time...already low on cash and facing an FBI investigation into fraud. They could decapitate themselves...

I have a feeling Oberweis is gonna be a hemeroid...his ego won't let him drop out...it hasn't stopped him in the past. Plus, they may be stuck with him if he doesn't want to go...or forced to stay with him and tell him to pound sand...little if any financing.

What's ironic is 2 years ago Hastert had set aside a boatload of cash...set up a war-room in a western burb and was threatening to go after long-held Democratic seats in Chicago...oh, how the worm has turned.

52. They're Stuck With Oberweis In November
He won the primary for both elections on Mar 4th and will be on the ballot unless he drops out...which could be a possibility. The entire state party is in disarray...and more important, this election was a test for several other organizations...especially for Debbie Halvorson in the 11th (she appears to be running unopposed) and Dan Seals in the 10th. The state party is a joke and I can almost predict that Gramps will be lucky to win 40% of the vote in November no matter who is the candidate.

58. He Could Cost 'Em A Lot Of Money
There's already several campaign violations involving funding and Oberweis intermixing his politics and business that could end up in fines and then the RNCC had to come to his rescue with a 1.3 million dollar ad buy...even though this guy was supposed to self finance the election (the only reason anyone would ever nominate this scumbag). Now that's he's such a loser I doubt the RNCC will spend another dime and may try to force him out. I'm sure he could withdraw...but even then he'd have to do it within 90 days of the general. These problems couldn't happen to finer scumbags.

Cheers...
