C-SPIN: Not A Word About Last Night's Election...
So far we've gotten an hour of some Rutgers "historian" whacking the Clinton/Obama can around one more time. They showed his assholiness making another fool of himself at the Gridiron dinner...and yet no mention of last night's election in Illinois.

Now had Kucinich gone down to defeat last Tuesday or another Democratic district had fallen so far so fast, they'd be all over it. Meanwhile I'm still waiting to see if there's any discussion of Bill Foster's victory.

Anyone else been hearing or seeing anything?

1. What C-Span does, what its purpose is.
They schedule guests who have expertise on a subject of interest and then the moderator tries to keep the segment of the show in question on subject. That's how it works. Subject matter expertise matters. When they get someone on there who has expertise in elections you'll get discussion about elections. With the morning show, Washington Journal, the subject changes either on the hour our half hour, but rarely does any guest or segment last over an hour. They never have the most important subject of the day on first, probably because its difficult to get a guest in the room before 7am and not many people would watch anyway. Just wait for a guest who has some basis on which to have a conversation on the 'election' and you'll get your wish.

Patience grasshopper.

4. They Also Claim To Be Focused On Congress
Plenty of patience here...just an observation from years of watching.

They started with open lines...and the network does claim that its focus is on the Legislative, yet here's a change and not a mention.

I just saw the run-down for the rest of the show. I like Henry Champ (I miss not having NewsWorld International), but it looks like it's all Clinton/Obama.

12. I tuned in in the middle of the Henry Champ segment
I must have missed these NAFTA/Ohio stories. I could not find the column he was talking about on www.cbc.ca , this column is old: http://www.cbc.ca/news/reportsfromabroad/champblog/2008/02/post.html
Can someone fill me in?

14. They do headlines while they set up their panel, though.
You can stay pretty current by listening to their headlines and then to Amy Goodman's.

5. I Have Several Names Under My Breath

In fairness, usually they have "reporter" from Roll Call or the Hill that does updates, but not on the weekend.

Maybe if I call in on the repugnican line and say I have a picture of Hillary Clinton eating Obama's baby, they'd let me through???

7. Now A Heritage Foundation Sock Puppet...
Do these goons live in the hallways at C-SPIN? If its not Heritage Insitute, it some AEI mouthpiece riffing on some right wing fear.

Today, it's the China card. A favorite of the wingnuts...who are sure they're about to over-run the Panama Canal and start a new Yellow Peril.

9. Fear, Fear, Fear...Reds And Browned-Skinned People Under My Bed
Yes, all the troubles of the world would end if we got those commies out of China and Cuba. Look how well its worked in Russia.

Yep...we sure squandered that "peace dividend".

Any guess which contractors fund his "study"?

:hi:

BTW...Good to hear Blackwater got the hose in San Diego.
