Need Your Opinion Please
This subject matter is really beginning to heat up in the media and inner circles of politics and the question burning in everyones mind is why the accused is remaining silent.

question - If you were the former chief of police (but still heavily into politics) in a mid-sized city and a book was published that made allegations against you of incredible corruption and abuse of power, would you not file some type of injunction to either stop the book or at least force the removal of that information if not true?

The least of the accusations are the man is being accused of inflating drug arrest statistics, and even re-directing drug deals into his jurisdiction in order to get federal funding to fight the "war on drugs." (which is another topic)

Believe it or not, He accomplished this by having an informant actually go to other cities and lure drug dealers to the chiefs hometown to meet with undercover officers posing as drug dealers. We are talking multi-kilo's of cocaine in each case.

There are corroborating facts that he did it. In fact, at one point the DEA quietly stepped in and put a halt to his actions.

If it were me, and I did not do it, I would be screaming to the media and everyone else I did not do this and file some kind of injunction to stop the book??

Or, maybe I just answered my own question.

Isnt there some federal crime this guy could face?

6. Sue the publisher who would print such lies.
Free speech is one thing...slander for publication is another.

2. You answered your own question. If he is guilty of such
acts, he would not want to draw attention to his ill deeds by kicking up dust around the book. He'd rather let the book come out and hope noone reads it and if they do, he'll simply deny the author's assetions and everybody will move on.

8. Great way to get some prime acreage, or punish a rival. Just plant some
evidence on their property and then bust them. I had a friend nearly lose 650 acres of prime farmland because they found some wild hemp on his land. Our whole area used to be dotted with hemp farms. Some went wild and can be found from time to time. He was able to show it wasn't cultivated and that it was wild. They could have taken his land anyway, but he was very popular in the county and known as a straight arrow.
