Cokie Roberts -- Ann Coulter with a brain?
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 10:47 AM by Cyrano
This morning, Stephanopalis had on George Will, Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson.

We know that Will is a well-groomed, well-spoken wingnut. And it seems to me that it's just about time for Donaldson to hang it up.

But while good ole' Cokie tries to sound fair minded, she's somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun. She's virtually slobbering over the idea of Hillary as our candidate because (like many Republicans) she thinks McCain will crush her.

The more "fair-minded" she tries to sound, the more she comes across as Ann Coulter with a brain. You can do the NY Times crossword puzzle in ink while listening to her, yet not miss her biases, her propaganda, and the ten tons of bullshit she's shoveling at us.

And now for a cheap shot. I don't know who did her hair this morning, but Sam Donaldson's top piece actually looked better.

I wonder if there's still any Dem in this country who believes that Cokie is a fair-minded, middle of the roader?

1. I always liked Cokie...but
I'll pay more attention next time. Seems she is on NPR less and less now that I think of it.

2. She's been drifting to he right since the mid 90's
I don't think she ever liked the Clintons.

4. During Reagan she was a fairly middle of the road conservative,

but since Clinton she became incredibly biased, right wing hack. Same with George Will, but since Bush II he's moved slightly back.

Maybe Roberts wants Hillary because she feels that McCain's best shot. I really don't know.

3. She also said that a Clinton / Obama ticket had many negatives ...
And then immediately failed to list any ...

She and Will seemed thrilled with the potential Clinton - McCain debate on experience.

Of course neither mentioned judgment.

5. a republican shill
I learned to loathe her after bush stole the election--she was a master at twisting the reporting to make it look like he legitimately won the election.

After the selection, she never missed a beat presenting the republicans in a positive light and the Democrats as disorganized, weak, and the party of futility.

As far as her hair, was it worse than this?

Cher

p.s. I wrote several letters to NPR complaining about her biased coverage. I was pleased to learn she isn't on much anymore.

6. She's a whore - and that's it - just like all the rest of them
Cokie is a whore, pure and simple.
She spouts this bullshit because it serves her interests and that's the only reason.
Rush, Hannity, Will, Bill-O, Laura, they all do it for a very simple reason.
Spewing hate PAYS better.

19. Not surprising with a name like Cokie
It's interesting how the upper class separates themselves from the rest of us by the way they name their kids.

20. Investment trumps intellectual integrity
She made good, married Steve, began to read the stock market results on her mutual funds and got religion same as Nixon did in '67, the Clintons in '04, Joe Biden in the 90's. They find out they're in the elite class and soon it gets easier and easier to see the equalitarians as flawed. Plus her dad was one of them.

13. No difference there that I can see.
How about Cokie Roberts: Ann Coulter with class. It is just a veneer of sunday new york times crossword puzzle and coffee intellectualism over the same rightwing bullshit. She is just another nazi propagandizer, she just has to appeal to the brie and volvo set.

.... The insider, Georgetown cocktail-circuit type who is completely out of touch with the public.

24. Cokie probably got the message not to question the establishment
after her father's plane went missing in Alaska. Though she doesn't do his memory any service by not standing up to her corporate masters.

16. Way too transparent for my taste.
I've had it about up to here with public radio (except for all classical).

I hate "All Things Considered" and I hate "Morning Edition".

I guess it's a question of tone.

For example, the interview with the Governor of Montana as to his position on REAL ID showed a bias on the part of the inverviewer that rivaled O'Riley or Scarborough.

17. The whole roundtable this morning did not sit right with me.
The whole premise of the segment, seemed to me, was that the Dems are screwed no matter what they do. Case closed, minds made up, end of discussion. Move on.

23. How to make reporting by everyone in the media fair and unbiased-
Make it a law that no member of the press can make more than say, 50k. That's a good way to keep em in touch with the poor and middle class.
