Addicted gambler files $20 million casino suit
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - She was an ambitious lawyer and TV commentator who starting going to Atlantic City casinos to relax and soon was getting high-roller treatment that included limousines whisking her to the resort.

Arelia Margarita Taveras said she was even allowed to bring her dog, Sasha, to the blackjack tables, sitting in her purse.

But her gambling spun out of control: She said she would go days at a time at the tables, not eating or sleeping, brushing her teeth with disposable wipes so she didn't have to leave.

You know I feel sorry for this woman but at the same time, I have to say that she just needs to suck it up. She made a big mistake now she kind of has to live with the consequences. Not everyone that drinks become an alcoholic, and not everyone who gambles loses their house. It's about control.

3. A ways back, the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles lost his team in a poker game.
He sued the casino in Atlantic City for letting him continue to gamble at his level of intoxication.

7. Is that how Lurie ended up with the team?
I didn't follow the story very closely (obviously), and hadn't heard that this was the event that triggered the sale.

Wild.

9. No, Tose sold the team to Norman Braman for $65 million in 1985.
Lurie bought the team from him in 1992 for $192 million. The franchise is worth over a billion dollars now. But none of these guys have the heart that Mr. Tose did. Sure he had a gambling problem but he was well known for treating everyone like family and being extremely generous with his money. He founded the highly successful "Eagles Fly for Leukemia" foundation and founded the first Ronald McDonald house in Philadelphia.

4. "she dipped into her clients' escrow account" ... niiiiice
I'm with the casinos on this one. She brought this shit on herself and like you said, "needs to suck it up." I am beyond sick of people not accepting responsibility for their actions/bad decisions.

Anyone want to place a bet as to when the centerfold announcement will be made?

5. Casinos are there to take your money, not to stop you from losing.
She has no leg to stand on and no sympathy from me.

8. It's a sad story, but the casinos aren't responsible for what she chose to do. NT
