Daylight Savings time being blamed for rise in gas price
Cost of gas rises to record, and could go higher
$3.20 a gallon on average; analyst sees jump of 20 to 30 cents next month

Lundberg said things will likely get worse, with prices at the pump rising 20 to 30 cents per gallon in the next month as refiners begin passing on to customers more of their higher costs for crude oil.

“Should prices indeed rise 20 to 30 cents, they would vastly exceed previous prices on an inflation-adjusted basis,” Lundberg said.

Refiners since last spring have deliberately refrained from passing on their higher costs for crude oil, in order to compete for sales, she said.

“But refiner profit margins have become so slim that they will now raise prices to recover their lost margins,” said Lundberg. Likewise, she said retailers will also be less willing to hold back from passing on their higher costs to drivers.

Moreover, prices will also rise because of the return to daylight savings time and the approach of warmer weather, Lundberg said.

What's next?

That should end the meme that Daylight Savings Tims is to conserve energy.

3. Terrible TV, it forces you to drive during daylight, it's a plot to force you into WalMart
in those daylight hours for which families have nothing to do.

This is what good ol FDR had in mind. Come on be a good Dem and SPEND MORE MONEY!

With more hours of sunlight in the evening every family really can SPEND MORE MONEY!

It creates jobs...you know it does...all those custard stands opening need minimum wage workers.

Don't fight this! SPEND MORE MONEY!

What do you think you get to take it with you? You want to pass it to your kids? Are you crazy?
There are retailers going out of business who need it more than your kids! Come on... SPEND MORE MONEY!

6. Amazing how those slim and shrinking profit margins
seem to lead always to record profits for the oil giants.

8. As prices continue to rise or at best remain at
unprecendented levels through what is looking to be a major economic downturn here, the excuses and layers of bullshit continue to be piled up higher and higher. What could possible be the explanation? Nobody could have anticipated the end of cheap oil.

10. Big hole in that story
why don't journalists ASK QUESTIONS anymore? Like, "Wasn't Daylight Savings Time set early to SAVE us energy? If so, why is it making energy costs go up?" And if the journalist asked that, the information should be in the story. If no answer was found, then it should say something along the lines of, "Lundberg did not have have a reason why Daylight Savings Time would cause gas prices to increase."
