I think my post office is no longer delivering mail on Mondays
It's 2:30, and no mail. Usually the mail's been delivered by now. I've been taking a peek every once in a while--no mail truck parked in the usual spot. I have outgoing mail I need to have picked up. It's still sticking out of my mailbox. I'll eat crow if the dude is just late, but this is like the third Monday in a row that we haven't gotten any mail and I never spotted the mail truck.

No mail on Mondays? Did I miss some announcement? Can they even DO that?

6. Hmm...I heard we just changed postmasters, too
I think I will call. I'm curious to hear if this new guy has a good excuse.

Shit, it's a small town--how hard can it be to deliver the friggin' mail?

7. Call Your Postmaster
He will not blow you off.
Believe me.
Boy I wouldn't want to be in that carriers shoes.

2. I think a more likely explanation is that on Monday's the postal worker who does your route
has a different schedule then the one who works it Tuesday through Saturday. It probably just comes later on Mondays.

3. My mail has always been light on Mondays...

I don't know about your town, but my mail is always early and light on Mondays, as if no one mailed anything on Friday and Saturday.

Yeah right.

I just think they are not fully up to snuff on Mondays and they're just giving themselves a break.

4. My normal arrival time is 4:30-5:30. Sometimes later.
What I find interesting is that on Saturdays they can seem to get to my house before noon. Of course, they never BRING me anything but junk mail. I also get my weekly magazines sometimes on a monthly basis, and oh yes, at least once a week get my neighbors' mail.

8. Sometimes I get my neighbor's mail too...
The house at the corner of the block has the same numerical address but not street name as we do.

I've gone to the effort of putting the street name on my mail box and I haven't been getting the wrong mail as often any longer.

"## Something Drive" instead of just "##"

5. We havent gotten mail the last two Mondays either!
Same as you... the mail truck is always down the street when I walk the dog. No mail truck two Mondays in a row. We were just wondering if it was a holiday or something.

Mail just showed up. Latest ever, but it's here. And just junk mail. Why do I get myself so worked up over this shit?

10. I don't know anything about no mail on Mondays, but I think I can
tell you why Monday mail is always light. There are mail sorters at each post office. What's sorted by the time your carrier is ready to begin their route is packed into their vehicle, but the sorters keep sorting for the rest of the day. They work until 5PM. What's sorted during the rest of the day goes on tomorrows delivery. Saturdays is a half day, so each PO gets fewer deliveries from their main PO and the sorters only work until noon...thus less mail gets sorted for delivery on Monday! I know our small PO here gets 3-4 deliveries from the Atlanta main PO each day, and what gets there after the carrier begins their route waits until the next day.

11. "Neither rain nor snow, nor sleet nor dark of night..."
"...shall stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds..."

"...except on Monday."
