while his wife and kids were still living there, but Spitzer is expected to resign because he hired prostitutes?

Edit to correct mistake about location of boinking.

3. Yep, while the wife and kids still lived there
It was pretty outrageous. But for all his affairs while he was mayor (even pre-Judy), no one made him resign.

5. Republican..
What? You planning to hold the Democrats to the standard that Republicans set? Good plan :eyes:

It's not the sex, it's the hypocrisy and the stupidity. Same thing I said about Vitter and Craig.

No shrugging needed. Spitzer is a hypocrite, on record now. Get it? And I don't see too many here holding up Guiliani to any kind of pedestal.

8. Screwing a Mistress is not illegal, hiring a prostitute,
and having her sent across state lines for that purpose, is illegal on at least 2 fronts.

Spitzer broke federal law with that one.

12. Well, being a pig is not illegal at this time.
Mailing money to a whore is.

And Rudy didn't exactly get away with it. The Evangeicals in his party kept him from being president.

15. It's the hypocrisy. Repubs like Rudy are expected to do this sort of thing.
Democrats aren't. Aside from legalities. Hmmm, perhaps this shows that is really isn't about sex but about being legal or not?

20. Why aren't the repigs screaming for David Vitter to resign, then?
He admitted to using prostitutes, and even took a call from the DC Madam while on the floor during a vote...

Fuck the republicans and they shitwagons they rode in on...

16. being an a$$hole is not against the law
Hiring prostitutes is.

Personally, I'd say that hiring prostitutes is less of an insult to his wife than having an emotional as well as a physical affair would have been, and an affair would have been no reason to resign. But the law, however intrusive and illogical in this case, is the law.

And they didn't want to screw up Rudy's presidential ambitions, though we all know how well *that* worked out. I guess it's okay to do whatever you want as long as you have an "R" beside your name. :sarcasm:

(edit for repug dig)

24. Uh, you do know that Rudy went to court over Judy Nathan?
There was a long and shameful episode in which Rudy went to court to get the right to move his mistress into Gracie Mansion while the wife and kids were there.

No, it's not the same thing as illegally engaging in solicitation but the law was involved with that too.

28. Prostitution
is illegal. He is violating the law. Adultery can be called immoral, I suppose, but it's not in direct violation of law.

Rudy is a prick, but he didn't flaunt the laws in this way.
