Spitzers'upport of womens' rights re: abortion |
|
could that be one of the reasons this came out today? I was listening to Democracy Now and Amy Goodman was discussing the rally for womens' right to birth control and abortion and how it related to RvW. I believe they mentioned Gov. Spitzer was to give a speech at a rally in Buffalo supporting such right.

because people involved in the prostitution ring were arrested last week.
I wouldn't look for an conspiracy. He broke the law and got caught.

2. What exactly did he do that is illegal? |
|
I'm trying to figure it out and so far, I can't - unless it is illegal in NY to be a "john". Is that it?

Maybe in some parts of Nevada, prostitution is legal. That means both the payer and the payee...but of course in our system of 'justice,' it's usually the payee who gets jailed.

"Are you for real?" - Look, that's really unnecessary, insulting and flame-baiting.
This is the first I've heard of it being illegal to be a "john". It didn't used to be. I haven't kept up on prostitution laws. I'm for real, and I really didn't know.

Maybe porn and the objectification of women has become so mainstream, that men paying women for impersonal sex is simply accepted.
Both the john and the prostitute are breaking the law....but because of our 'justice' system, it's almost always the woman who is jailed. But efforts in certain communities have found that going after the john has reduced prostitution.
I just think it's a damn shame that a woman can't get a legal job that pays a decent wage so she doesn't have to resort to such dangerous work.
Are you from the US....??? I thought I read Oregon.

for over 4 grand for 4 hrs. Sorry, doesn't fly. I can feel bad for the wife, but not a super model type collecting $1,500/hr.

They offered a service, he paid for it. Big deal. We can all argue forever about whether or not prostitution should be legal, but I hardly see how this could be considered exploitation.
