What can we do now?
Ok, I think the ADM Fallon retirement has us all on edge. It would seem that BushCo are on their war footing with Iran and eliminating all opposition. Now Cheney will be discussing "mutual interests" in the Middle East. The Iran-nuclear weapon myth has been debunked, but that hasn't ever stopped them.

Honestly, what can be done to stop them? Is there anything we, Congress or the military can to to prevent an attack on Iran? Can Congress pass any resolutions prohibiting the use of force in Iran, except in the instance of attack (or something like that)? I know that the military is under orders, but what about objecting to unlawful orders?

If we haven't learned our lesson from Iraq, we'll be steamrolled! We need to get out in front of this mess to attempt to stop it from going any further.

1. Nothing, if the past is any indicator
We will continue to revile and attack our fellow Democrats, scream and foam at the mouth over little, meaningless policy difference, act as if we are six political parties, and the Repukes will bomb Iran or anywhere else they damn well please...and then we'll blame it on each other and say, "I was AGAINST the bombing before you were, therefore you are the epitome of evil and John McCain is more qualified than either one of us to be president." Pogo was right. :evilfrown:

2. I was worried, when Fallon was put in charge, that he was there
because so much of the attack on Iran would have to be a Navy operation. Aircraft carriers, interdiction of Iranian shipping, ship-based cruise missiles.

But nothing happened.

Perhaps he was arguing against it - all those ships are in range of Iranian anti-ship missiles and I don't care how many laser-guided gatlings you have, throw enough missiles at those ships and some will get through - and it only takes one. A Navy man couldn't forget that.

Now I'm nervous again.

3. damn, I wish there were a populace that, as a whole, gave a shit
I remember so well when thousands marched on the Pentagon - troops with fixed bayonets elbow to elbow all the way around the damned thing. We just walked along, milling around, singing and shit, but at least it got some press. At least there were more than a handful of people acting like they cared.

People talk about this year's convention being like 1968 if Obama gets trumped somehow. I don't believe it. Not enough people care a damn about anything except maybe American Idol or WWF.

7. I'm watching a great show about the Kent state shooting
People used to care. People used to be involved. How could that generation not have taught this generation anything? We care, but apparently we're rare. What can it possibly take?

I wrote an article about getting people involved: Bring Back the Draft!

8. gee, we tried to tell ya
something about something called the "me generation" came along.

THE MACHINE installed raygun in the oval office, started dumbing down education, raising a generation of Stepford wives.

Those of us who lived through VN shake our heads in wonder.

10. I guess my mom
did what she could with me. Now she has a daughter that is constantly questioning authority :P

I think we all like our stuff, and this administration has made it hard for us to get past basic needs. But, we're practically medicated by the MSM and other stupid people constantly talking at us. Not that it's an excuse, but it's a start. We've managed to overcome this hurdle. I think people are afraid to wake up from the trance because they're afraid reality will be unbearable.

5. no way in hell Fallon's resignation
is not directly tied to his vow to quit rather than lead an invasion of iran.

Now if he would just GO PUBLIC. Tell the world exactly what the fucks are up to. Don't wait around 5-6 years and then write a book - do a Daniel Ellsberg, or John Dean. TALK, dammit.

9. I care but I really have to wonder how many people give a damn
I don't know but perhaps one person I Know gives a damn , other than that not one even talks about anything as long as they have their stuff and job and the car .
