http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/11/dawn.wells.ap/index.htmlDawn Wells will now be serving 6 months probation, which sucks...but I think this puts the Ginger vs. Mary Ann argument to bed once and for all. I know who I'D rather be stuck on a desert island with...:smoke:

1. Didn't Wells provide Bob Denver with pot when he was in pain and dying? |
|
A rather humane thing to do in my book.

It is good to know things have not changed.

8. I Always Loved Mary Ann... |

Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 07:15 AM by KharmaTrain
About 15 years ago I had the chance to meet her...she was doing local theater and I was part of a "reunion" with her, Russell Johnson (the Professor) and Bob Denver. It was a hoot...she was a lot of fun to talk with and you could hear how both Johnson and Denver really had an affection for her. This interview was right after one of Bob's dope busts and I remember Dawn saying how silly it musta been to see the cops bust "Gilligan" and how stupid possession laws were...Denver was living in West Virginia at the time and admitted to having his own little hothouse.
What I found curious of the story and maybe someone with more knowledge can explain...why did she get 5 days in the shitter for two roaches? Are California laws that strict? I thought that was a misdemeanor now.
On edit: Opps...wrong Johnson :spank:

12. Some Truth To That... |
|
When they tried to do a Gilligan's Island reunion, Tina Louise was always the hold-out...asking for big, big money to put on the sequin dress again. Also, she was embarassed by the show...felt it destroyed her career and that SHE was the star of the show. Not sure about her politics...

14. Rather like the character she played! |

Ginger always seemed stuck-up and arrogant to me, compared with the sweet and down-to-earth Mary Ann.

16. Different Parts Of Their Careers |
|
IRC, Dawn was in her early 20s and this was one of her first TV gigs, while Tina had started in the "star system" and fell out of favor...looking at TV work as a definite demotion and that she was "too good" for what she was doing...in short, it was a quick paycheck. Almost all these people thought this was a temporary gig...they'd do the series and move on...like doing a play or movie. They never realized the longevity of the show due to reruns and how they would be typecast in their roles. Tina resented it, Dawn played it to the hilt.
