Immorality.
Its Election Year again, and obviously the favorite news item is how Democrats can't keep it in their pants. Again. Still? You pick.

The part that is kind of funny is how the news media doesn't talk about the Republicans with the same fervor, despite the opportunities. Remember how Vice President Cheney was "hunting" with a good friend and a couple of "women who weren't their wives" when he shot a man in the face? I guess being a Republican makes him immune to Sex Scandals.

So, I had a contractor here the other day. He was an older gentleman who claimed to be an Independent, but his little rant about folks who speak Spanish 'stealing our jobs' was kind of more than a clue that he probably voted Republican but was too ashamed to admit it anymore, and he gave a little self-righteous spiel about how he is voting for the person who is "best for the nation, not just for him," at which point I said he was obviously going to be voting Democrat then.

Which got us off on the topic of "Immoral Sex Crazed Democrats." Sigh.

Let me be blunt: I'm Judgmental. I don't have a lot of respect for people who lie to their spouses, break their marital vows, and perform Intimate Acts with people they aren't married to without spousal permission. I am a fair minded person, and if you have an "open relationship" that is on you, but if you are just a lying, cheating scum bucket, then I think you are not Nice. Being married is hard work, being faithful isn't always easy, and staying happily married is something important to me, so folks who actually manage it are to be admired. And, as a person, if you are capable of lying easily (either overtly or by omission) to the person you Most Love with ease, that doesn't make me trust you. It makes me think you are someone who will say whatever to get what you want.

Now, that being said, I think KILLING PEOPLE is more Immoral than having illicit sexual relations.

I think WATCHING PEOPLE DIE FOR LACK OF CLEAN WATER ON NATIONAL TELEVISION DURING HURRICANE KATRINA was immoral.

I think the fact that "9/11" happened shows a lack of competence at the highest levels of government that I consider to be Immoral. And the fact Junior wasn't drummed out of office immediately after that catastrophe when the video of him Sitting In a Classroom Listening To Children Read for HOW LONG after being told "the country is under attack" makes the Democratic Congress culpable as well.

I think every dead and wounded soldier coming home from Iraq is an affront to Decency and Morality. I think every dead and wounded civilian in that country is a stain on our national honor, and I want the planners of that outrage sent to the Hague for their crimes against humanity.

I think anyone who has to make a choice between a) putting gas in their vehicle (if they have one), b) food on the table, c) a roof over their head, or d) life sustaining medication is being placed in an IMMORAL POSITION.

I would love to advise the Democrats to "keep it in their pants" especially during an Election Year, but the truth is that it doesn't matter -- the "sex scandals" are simply an excuse to ignore the disaster this country is in because of Republican mismanagement and corruption. If there isn't a real one, rumor and innuendo will be employed to make one up, and there is always that old standby of "Monica's Blow Jobs." People are going to have to decide their own "morality" and some will use Sex as an excuse to keep voting Stupid.

Speaking of morality, HELLO!!! Has anyone pumped GAS lately??? Is it possible there is some CORRUPTION going on somewhere???

Morals are such fluid things....

1. There was too much drinking water in New Orleans, FEMA had to pour it down the drains here
to get rid of it.

5. As more than one DUer has noted, it seems like "morality" only applies to sex anymore.
