At Bruno press conference on Spitzer: "He was gonna take you out and he got taken out?"
Republican State Senate majority leader is giving a press conference in anticipation of Spitzer's press statement resigning at 11:30.

A brave reporter screamed out something to the effect (I'm paraphrasing, no transcript):

"So he was gonna take you out and he got taken out first?" -- ie:

There are at least some other tin foil hatters like me in the Albany press corps concerned that this was about the impending loss of the State Senate to the Dems.

1. CBS headlines this morning.
1. Sexually active teens (read rampant immorality)

2. Spitzer prostitution thing and how soon is he going to resign with a side reference to Clinton and Hart (democrats) and not one peep about all the republicans that have been caught with their pants down in the same time period.

3. Geraldine Ferraro's statement about Obama and a short self-defense by Ferraro.

Can you say motivating the republicans? Because that's where all this is going. They're rallying and motivating the republican party in preparation of the election.

2. I think you're right.
The natural comparison would be Republican David Vitter, who not only hired prostitutes but also asked them to do some rather disgusting things.

But...Crickets...

I read somewhere that GOP sex scandals outnumber Democratic sex scandals by a huge margin. So, it seems strange that the GOP would get off without so much as a mention.

Fairness Doctrine, anyone?

3. However...let's be real...
Spitzer pissed off a lot of biggggg people, it seems...He played hard ball with the big boys...yet why he didn't have the sense to keep his own back yard clean?...it doesn't make sense to me...surely he had to know that he himself, would have to be Mr.Clean at all times..or face the consequences...

Still wondering why there are two different standards...The Reps get to keep their positions, the Dems have to resign or be impeached...why is such a double standard allowed, or tolerated?...wb

4. When you have the oil mafia running your government, things get ugly.
That's kind of the point. Massive spying, blackmail, exploitation of weaknesses, set ups, strange but pointed killings and outings, torture, fear, indefinite detention without trial, lawlessness, mass murder, stolen commons, dysfunctional government, nobody's safe, somebody's watching you all the time, and colossal hypocrisy. This is what it feels like to live in a "Banana Republic." It's what our government has inflicted on the people of South America for many decades. It's what our government would like to re-impose on the people of South America, now that they have democracy and we don't, especially in our FORMER "Banana Republics" with all the oil (Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina). We might want to look south for some lessons--perhaps the primary one: TRANSPARENT ELECTIONS. They've worked long and hard to achieve them. Now it's our turn--to try to throw off fascism and COUNT ALL THE VOTES.
