Sheriff: Woman sat on toilet for 2 years

Authorities are considering charges in the bizarre case of a woman who sat on her boyfriend's toilet for two years — so long that her body was stuck to the seat by the time the boyfriend finally called police.

Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple said it appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman's skin had grown around the seat. She initially refused emergency medical services but was finally convinced by responders and her boyfriend that she needed to be checked out at a hospital.

"We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital," Whipple said. "The hospital removed it."

its a little bit beyond my ability to make jokes about it. and i can make jokes about anything.

she stayed on the hopper 2 years rather than let anyone see her predicament. and her BF enabled her - feeding her, not calling anyone - to preserve her dignity. even when they came to rescue her, her shame was such that she refused them.

its very interesting that the word "obesity" is not in the report. the BF had to be bringing her massive calories for her to "grow around the seat".

she's lucky she's still alive. and though it isn't right, she may want to leave her hometown to seek anonymity. may she know physical & mental health.

22. About growing into the seat

Skin breaks down if compressed that long. Think a massive bedsore. Bedsore grow large enough the nerves also go.

A few years ago in Florida (of course) a woman grew into her couch after not getting off of it for years I suspect something similar happened here.

As an aside I dealt with some family members who refused help for medical conditions out of shame in not being able to take care of themselves. We were finally able to help but their life deteriorated to a great extent.
