The late Pat Tillman is on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame
The late Pat Tillman, a former Arizona State linebacker who gave up a professional football career to join the military, is among 19 players up for election to the College Football Hall of Fame for the first time this year.

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame released a ballot Tuesday with 75 players and eight coaches eligible for election to the hall.

Tillman played linebacker for the Sun Devils from 1994-97 and was one of the best defensive players in the Pac-10 over his final two seasons. He was one of the leaders of the last Arizona State team to play in the Rose Bowl. The Sun Devils lost to Ohio State 20-17 in 1997.

Tillman went on to play safety for the Arizona Cardinals, but quit football, giving up millions of dollars in salary, and became an Army Ranger

1. As simply a player, he probably doesn't deserve induction
It's a close call, but I don't think he equals the other recent safeties in the Hall like Ronnie Lott, Bennie Blades, and Terry Hoage.

His personal story probably does deserve some type of recognition though. The College Hall of Fame is a strange animal. I've never been sure what the criteria for induction is.

2. I can't claim any special knowledge of Tillman's merits based upon his football record
but my heart breaks for his family. I can't help but root for him to be voted in.

3. I can't imagine that he would be any less qualified than Warren Moon, for example
I'm not sure if Moon is in the CHOF, but if he is, it's a travesty.

If Pat Tillman was one of the premier players in the Pac-10, let the nomination stand, and let them vote.

5. It was even more shameful how they tried to use his death to further promote their wars.
The pigs intentionally lied about how Tillman died.
