anymore. I bought a trap to begin the process of trapping Skinny and a younger solid black ferral to get them fixed and into a rehab center for ferrals. The first animal we trapped was the neighbor's pain in the ass cat, then another neighborhood pain in the ass cat, 2 possums and a raccoon. I mentioned that after Skinny had seen these animals getting trapped that there was no way in hell that we'd get Skinny, and he/she left. :shrug:

LuLu and I have been thru some stuff over the years, that's why I keep waiting for that one signal from her that she wants to go. Maybe she's been trying to tell me and I dont' want to see it. But I've always said she's too ornery too kick off. :-)

166. I grew up with a perfect dog, Lance.

I couldn't even comprehend not having him around. Well, he got old and couldn't even lie down to sleep (his lungs would fill and he'd gurgle) - he'd prop himself up in a corner. One day I looked at him and knew. My mother was away, and I was about 20? - but I just knew. I asked him if he wanted to go for a ride, and he perked up. As he tried to get in the car he couldn't raise his hind paws, so I helped him. The edema was so bad that his paws left bloodstains on my hands as I gave him a boost.

Awful as it was, we both just knew. Fortunately our old, insensitive horse-doctor family vet was out of town and I went to his backup, who was caring and understanding. It was heartbreaking, but I felt comforted. Nowadays, especially out here in the Bay Area, vets are universally compassionate in their handling of situations like this.

My sister had a set back, she had to be moved to the CCU last night because her lungs started filling up with fluid and she has a temperature. She's really frustrated and got my niece and I upset today. One of my other sisters went to see her tonight and said that she pulled her trache out. We're hoping the set back is only temporary. My niece didn't complain about pain today, but I'm worried about her. She really needs to get some rest. Her sister is coming in from Phoenix on Saturday and will be here all next week. I told Kristy to take some time and relax and let her sister take up some of the slack while she's home.
