Is this an RNC memo or a news story?
Here's the opening graphs:
"WASHINGTON - The Senate rejected calls from both parties' presidential candidates to take an election-year break from pork-barrel spending as a Democratic-run Congress passed budget plans that would torpedo hundreds of billions of dollars in tax cuts won by President Bush.

John McCain, the GOP nominee-to-be, couldn't attract even a majority of Senate Republicans to vote with him Thursday night behind the earmark moratorium touted by party conservatives as a way to restore the GOP's credibility with voters.

It failed on a 71-29 vote. Only three Democrats joined with Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama in voting for it.

Sounds like the RNC to me, but actually it's Andrew Taylor from AP.

1. Bucks Beats Buck Rogers...
This is a push for Gramps. He gets to pretend he's against "waste" (translation: pork/earmarks) while his GOOP cronies lap it up for their re-elections. It's typical election year rope-a-dope and the attempt to create a diversion that Gramps needs to avoid running as a third booooosh "term".

He's trying for a two-fer by showing how Senators Clinton and Obama submitted those earmarks...which he then avoids describing what they're for...and gets to play holier than thou as he flies off in another lobbyists jet with his corporate media lapdogs wondering when the next BBQ will be.

The GOOP playbook is fear. Fear of brown-skinned people, fear of gays, fear of women and one of their biggest boogie men is fear of having your taxes raised. They've tried to play that hand out here in the Bill Foster race and it backfired, but I expect them to keep hammering on it...what else do they have?
