How big a bonus will be awarded to the CEO of Bear Sterns? |
|
Today the financial community essentially said the company is insolvent due to profligate loan making abuses. Not much different from lots of other companies, actually. But as a big fish, their insolvency is news.
But the CEO will likely get a nice, fat, multi-mega-million-dollar bonus for his business acumen. After all, by lying, obfuscating, book cooking, chicanery, plotting, and thievery, he maintained the appearance of solvency and profitability sufficiently long that, even after the had to have known internally how bad off they were, they were still able to make money.
And now, rather than suffering like an insolvent person (losing everything they own), he is making a deal with the Fed and his fellow lobster eaters to bail him out on the public dime.
Not a bad deal.
How much will his bonus be?

2. Doesn't matter to me, I don't have any dealings with Bears Sterns |
|
I might be more concerned if I personally was going to be paying a share of his bonus.

It does have something to do with you when the feds dump hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars propping up these criminal bankers who are now in trouble because of their greed. Where do you think those bailouts come from? And what do you think the ripple effect is when those big financial houses falter and fall? Hm?
Ever heard of a run on a bank?
Better think about the point at which your money will go under the mattress and not in the system.
