I took lots of photos today. You can view the whole collection here. Below are just a few of my favorites (very tough to choose!).

2. Where are the young?

While it's good to see people out doing something, I looked through the rest of your photos and am struck by an under representation of young people. Yes there are a few, but just not that many. It would seem that those with the most to lose are elsewhere. Maybe it's spring break or something.

I don't have an answer. The middle aged and older set here is VERY active.

4. I'll answer my own question

Much of what we were protesting back then wasn't so much the war, it was a draft protest. We were "invested" as they say.

7. Diversity of issues

I hear what you are saying about being invested in draft resistance. At the end of my post I mentioned how diverse were the issues on display today. Of that, what I would say does currently reflect a similar investment, is genuine lifestyle changes relating to energy, transportation, food, and the nexus therein. Granny Green Genes is my guru.

It is a matter of switching how we count the paper ballots.

I believe we now have over 350 people signed up, though that is an unofficial count that probably includes some dupes or potentially ineligible people.

Hundreds of Humboldt County residents united in a peace march from the Eureka Municipal Auditorium to the Old Town Gazebo on Saturday.

It wasn’t just about being against the Iraq War or being against the military’s recruitment of minors — nothing seemed to be off limits.

Activists chanted for voter confidence, increased public monitoring of police, and promoting peace and ending violence.

Traveling north from san francisco you would go through marin, sonoma, mendocino, then humboldt county

21. Maybe not so blue

The conventional wisdom is that this area is 50% hippie and 50% redneck, living in a delicate balance. People here are very connected to the environment so there is a green streak that keeps us together even while ideologies and ignorance often create divisiveness. By voter registration, though, I think you are correct that there is a blue majority. It doesn't seem to amount to anything in terms of policies or the vibe here.
