Interesting trivia about the Confederate Constitution |
|
1. The President had a six year term, and could only serve one of them
2. The President had a line-item veto
3. The Bill of Rights was directly incorporated rather than a series of amendments
4. Amendments required 2/3rds of the states' support rather than 3/4ths
5. Laws passed by Congress had to deal with only one subject
6. The Confederate Congress could impeach state officials.
I don't like the 1st provision because it creates a class of "Presidential" senators who only stand for election during Presidential election years. 2-6 are interesting, though.
