2. I always watch 60 Minutes, but lack of sleep doesn't cause anything
but being tired! I worked 9PM to 5AM for 5 years while my kids were growing up. Hubby was home when I wasn't so we didn't need to find $$ for sitters. I also had to make sure the oldest got his breakfast and got the school bus and the younger one I had to take to nursery school which was 1 1/2 hours ong and the year after that, kindegarden was 1/2 day and I had to take him and pick him up. No time to sleep! I averaged about 3-4 hours a day at best. I felt fine, but I couldn't got to a movie because in the dark theater I just couldn't keep my eyes open, and I did fall asleep at a traffic light once on my way home. i'm 64 now and I don't have ANY diseases, let alone the ones referenced by 60 Mins!

3. JUst because it didn't happen to you does not mean there is no link. There are 80 yo people who
have smoked their whole lives. That does not mean that smoking is not linked to cancer.

6. Shhhh. Keep that on the down low
or you could mess up a market for designer sleep drugs. And you might stop people from worrying about getting enough sleep--worry that would result in sleeplessness and more demand for designer sleep drugs.

7. Screw those SCIENTISTS and doctors we got your
anecdotal life experience to prove them wrong!

They're probably fronting for some sleep drug anyway!

5. I'll lose sleep worrying about the Quaid Twins
Seriously, who can sleep? Everything is so fucked up.

I would take Ambien but I don't trust the pharmaceutical companies and those warnings scare me "Night driving and night eating can occur with amnesia of the event. Tell you doctor if you exprience these side effects" Excuse me....but if I have amnesia of the event, how am I gonna tell my doctor?

11. Ask for a SMALL dose of Seroquel
About 50 mg. is a good sleep aid that doesn't have side effects. Anymore and you'll feel groggy. It's used in high doses to treat psychosis like schitzophrenia (200 to 600mg).

12. They are assuming you have a bed partner or otherwise live with someone who might notice
if you were raiding the fridge or cupboards in the middle of the night or heading out to the car.

Isn't that nice? We single folks are on our own. If we're taking some sleep aid that's causing us to eat or drive at night with no memory of the event, the only way we'll know is if we a) wake up to an empty kitchen or b) crack into a telephone pole.

15. i was really disturbed about the stats dennis found:
100,000 die each year due to human error in hospitals.

when my mom was in the hospital i couldn't do enough to get her the hell out of there fast. one of the drs even threatened that if she leaves without being officially released her insurance won't pay for her hospital stay!

i was so relieved when her other doctor released her an hour later.
