What's more is that it is more of an indicator rather than a mover by itself. Turmoil in the gold futures market would have no direct impact on the economy. Turmoil in the corporate credit market, a far more vast market, would have enormous direct impact.

Choosing to waste money on failed gamblers in the markets would have to be the tops, or perhaps just after being overrun by hostile forces.

There are so many unmet needs--to throw rapidly devaluing dollars after bad is more than perverse: it's suicidal--a murder-suicide solution to a situation that any rational person would suffer with grace and maturity. Let the fraudsters take their lumps! Protect the citizens whose wealth they have stolen and dissipated.
