Republicans can change. I got an email the other day
I recieved an amazing email from my brother the other day. For the last 8 years I've been arguing with him about damn near every subject that's remotely related to politics. I've sent him article after article, being careful to select right wing sources. I've sent him graphs and charts on GDP, stock market performance, economic mobility, etc etc etc. Facts about the drug war, who started the drug war, and so on and so on.

For years we've screamed at each other, disparaged each others worldly experience, called each other naive, etc etc etc.

Finally I sent him an email about the Paulson announcement the other day, and ranted and raved about how it was a total policy reversal for the Republican party, and that I had hope that we were finally going to be more socialist like the successful economies of Europe, NZ, and Austrailia blah blah blah.

He emailed me back and quite simply said "You make a very convincing argument. I was seriously considering voting for Obama this fall if he wins. I hate to admit it but I'm thinking about changing parties all together."

Then he went on and railed agains the latte liberals, and how arrogant I am, and how he doesn't support all of the Dem policies blah blah. But I think that a page has finally finally been turned. I can't express how excited I am. So many years of hard work but it has finally finally paid off!

Now I have to convince him to register before the primary haha. He's in Indiana :P

Anyways the point of this post is to say that the Republican foot soldiers are not the enemy... they are allies who just don't know that they're on the wrong team.

Keep trying. You never know what you might accomplish with facts and honest discussion! Even if they don't vote Dem they may be more likely to not vote Puke! :bounce:

1. You mean that Republicans are not evil incarnate?
Their souls aren't tainted by Lucifer himself? How shocking.

:sarcasm:

2. I think this three part series illustrates some of the
reasons for that very well (I'm posting part III which has links to parts I and II):

3. Very good thank you
I would also recommend "What's wrong with Kansas" i think it's called. Good book describes the facist takeover of the american soul.
