We remembered the 5th Anniversary in our city (PIX)
This was in Durham NC tonight.

We had more than a hundred there on the corner downtown. We were on several corners at that intersection actually. The weather was foreboding--angry black clouds and windy all afternoon. But still more than a hundred showed up. Then the rain began. But we persisted. We re-lit each other's candles shared umbrellas. Someone passed out printed pieces of paper with soldiers names who had died and ask us to remember them. We were there for an hour. Horns honked and people in cars gave us the thumbs-up. (My camera lens got wet and my pics are a bit blurry).

I was dreading the possibility of rain there tonight, but somehow it seemed appropriate to have such a gloomy night to commemorate the anniversary of the half decade (so far) of war.

The sky was crying.
