These six things doth the LORD hate
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

----Proverbs 6:16-19

He hates those too.

3. Funny you should say that. Bush is legendary for Rick Rolling his staff.
And they HAVE to laugh or they're fired.

Recommending the OP.

2. Man, I was reading my way through Proverbs during March 2003
It was, let me tell you, an experience, especially when you get to those "6 things to Lord doth hate" and "Look at the wicked man" parks.

4. And check out Bush's pointy ears.
He doesn't act like a Vulcan either, so that's not it.

6. What is the name of this mental defect which allows a person to read one thing...
then interpret and act on it in an entirely contrary way?

People who claim to be pro-life, yet are also pro-war and pro-death penalty.

People who claim to hold strong Christian values, yet live in a manner the Old Testament and Jesus taught are abhorrent.

Socially and fiscally conservative Republicans.

In my personal experience, I have been acquainted with several people who could read a clearly written text - the Ten Commandments, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, a gardening article - yet act in a manner that indicates they'd already interpreted the meaning before cracking the book. Even worse, when called on their actions, they are completely dumbfounded that anyone would question their motives as anything but totally in keeping with what "everyone knows" to be the true meaning and intent.
